Great timing too, as fascism and anti-intellectialism grows and spreads. As the US is deregulating anything it can, threats of climate change become real... Many populations of birds and mammals are struggling to survive as it is, and throwing something this deadly into the mix doesn't just hurt humans from our own pandemic, but it becomes a food issue as well. It's a compounding issue. Even just birds, they eat bugs that are crop killers. So we're losing meat and produce.
Hopefully this time more of the idiots will kill themselves by spitting into each other's mouths when sick, or whatever other dumb ideas they come up with. That would solve a lot of problems for us.
There are reasons for optimism: vaccines and antivirals should be effective against avian influenza, and the world is far better prepared thanks to lessons learned from COVID, particularly in diagnostics and global surveillance.

Tbh, it took me like 2 covids, or whatever that was, to get back to masking in crowded places. And it’s hard to keep masking because social pressure is very much real.
