it's not a tumblr screenshot without the unfunny final replies
Or reposted every 15 days or so.
I haven’t seen this in a few years ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I've seen the joke, just not in this format with tumblr.
Still gave me a chuckle.
Tbf I didnt know the context so it helped tp understand the joke
nah, i think the last reply is an extra joke
Bothers me they capitalized OCTO correctly, but didn't capitalize SEPTEM, NOVEM, or DECEM correctly.
beware the something of something
His mistake was not getting rid of March.
Context?
Ceasar added two extra months to the calendar.
Ceasar was stabbed.
It's a shame he was stabbed. Not every idea can be good. I love the work he did with salads.
Didn't know it was Caesar that formed the calendar.
You learn something new everyday
July and August, Julius and Augustus.
"They caught him in an alley one night and stabbed him right in his toga."
-- Andy Griffith
I just want to point out that the two other responses are slightly wrong - Caesar didn't add two months, and no months moved. There were always 12 months, and September was always the month with the fall equinox. What changed was two things:
- The two months before september were renamed after Caesar and Augustus (I believe they had numbered names like the following months).
- New year's was moved from March to January, thereby offsetting all the numbers by two from how they originally were.
September, October, November, and December were the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th months until Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar decided they wanted months named after them (July and August), pushing the other months back.
Julius Caesar was famously killed by multiple stabbings.
Chinese Be Like:
[Insert Number] + [The Character for "Month"]
一月 (1st Month)
二月 (2nd Month)
。。。
十一月 (11th month)
十二月 (12th month)
I was surprised to learn that English named each month lmao
(Also pretty sure I saw this meme a few times already this year, xD)
Boycott July and August
