If you saying their talking points of "read theory" as a question irritates them, that's on them. PTB.
Ye Power Trippin' Bastards
This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

That sh.itjust.works post took me to an error page
I am a human being who actually has autism which is why I type like this.
I unfortunately think we are entering an age of systems that are extremely hostile to any kind of neurodivergence, mostly because of layers and layers of bullshit automated categorization schemes based on measurable superficial differences that capture nothing deeper or essential about people.
Phrenology by another name dressed up in techbro nonsense, it is dangerous as fuck.
Ultimately they might be hostile towards all humans, not just the neurodivergent ones... In my opinion, tech is getting more and more difficult unless you 99% conform to the masses. I mean try to book a ticket, get an appointment, do paperwork or whatever needs apps these days if you're not using standard Google or Apple products. Or non-mainstream things like evade surveillance capitalism. All of that is annoying and requires me to jump through several hoops. Also business processes and everything gets more streamlined, automated... they do most things fairly well and efficiently. Just God beware you're in the 0.5% when things go properly wrong, and it's almost impossible to get ahold of a human with authorization to help with these rare, specific problems.
hostile towards all humans, not just the neurodivergent ones
The thing is neurodivergent people aren't different from "neurotypical" people, they experienced heightened or muted versions of the exact same responses other people do. Anything that is hostile to neurodivergent people is hostile to everyone, and just being noticed by the neurodivergent people first
All of that is annoying and requires me to jump through several hoops.
Yes, that is true.
The important thing is that it is possible to use non surveillance capitalism software and services. The trade-off will always be that it is more work. This is because companies that harvest your information to sell can afford to spend a lot of money creating products that do everything for you.
They essentially say:
Don't worry about buying media and managing it on your own hardware, it's too hard to watch a youtube video and spend a few hours on something you enjoy... just install YouTube, Netflix or Spotify on your iPhone.
For the low, low price of your eternal technical dependency and loss of privacy we will manage your music and movie collection for you. Also, since there's nothing you can do about it now that you've been lulled into a state of technical incompetence, there will be a ~~$5~~ ~~$8~~ ~~$9.99~~ ~~$12~~ ~~$18~~ $19.99 subscription fee, HD sold separately.
The hoops thing is pretty bad too
The problem is that it's becoming less and less of a possibility, and more and more of a hassle, since everyone else, including our dear elected governments build shit with the expectation you engage in the big tech ecosystem.
I've been using e/OS, which is an Android fork maintained by a Danish university, so Google stops messing with my phone. I've made the switch after realising that when I wanted to restart the phone (was urgent at the time) the power button has been remapped to AI.
Yet, after moving to Denmark, I realized that the government ID service specifically disallows that fork and enforces using Google Android. The Danish government trusts Google over leading Danish universities.
Living without that ID thing on my phone would be possible but would require me to do tons of personal appointments with different companies, including banking, phone contracts, internet, public transit and so on.
Large tech companies manipulating/bribing governments to require the use of their software is pretty new and certainly a danger to people who want to own their own things and have privacy.
Right now, these kinds of laws are being passed with little to now public input or knowledge. These laws seem innocuous to the average person (who uses those kinds of devices anyway) but they give these platforms way more power over your daily life. It should be discussed more, but there are always distractions.
Right now, for me, the loss is mostly in using NFC payments. There's no digital ID requirements that would force me onto a device in Google's attestation chain. But, I am very aware of the issue that you're talking about.
The stupid thing is that it's not even a law. IDK if there was even bribery involved.
It's just if you give the average state IT employee a switch that says "flip this to be more secure", 9 times out of 10 they will flip it.
This is just enshittification on the enterprise level.
Any time you see people talking about Digital ID, just know that the end of that entire chain of thought is the requirement to have a secure hardware device to store the IDs (usually in the form of some kind of signed keypairs).
This could be a standalone device (like a Onekey) but the big push by Apple/Google is to just let them store/manage the keys in their infrastructure and on their phones.
Like every other aspect of our technical lives, they will try to win by creating an entire solution that requires no work or effort on the part of the users (the government in this case) so that the government can get digital ID compliant without actually doing any work or research that would be required to find the best method of doing it themselves.
This has been the playbook for a few decades. It's why teenagers don't know how to rip MP3s or use Peer to Peer networks... that's hard to do, it's much easier to avoid having to learn that by just installing Spotify who take care of all of the streaming infrastructure and music sourcing for you. Now that there is a technical dependence on Spotify they can enshittify, add tiering, add ads, remove music, etc and their users no longer have the ability to leave them.
I think we should give that a phrenology-type name - maybe neuroprofology, perhaps?
Oh and thank you for editing the comment (and also rephrasing it as well)!
Either that or "cognitive behavioral phrenology"
Something like that
Hah, I like that one.
Its .ml i wouldn't worry about it too much, sure there are many decent people there, but there are some people there with shit takes
Is it because it's a primarily Marxist-Leninist hub? - and this is coming from someone who supports socialism, and is looking to study a bit more on that
It's because the mods and admins are tankies. Though AFAIK that's a very common issue with marxist-leninists.
What about the Marxist-Leninists are aren't really "tankies" and DOESN'T support how Stalin handled the USSR and his power as the General Secretary of the CPSU (too much bureaucracy and all)?
From what I've experienced is that anything that is critical of russia/china is against the narrative. I'm a socialist too, but because I am critical of russia/china, I get blocked and banned when I make comments. I am also critical of the USA, Canada, europe, etc but i still get called a shit lib lol.
I support the ideas of socialism, but I am critical of the more bureaucratic elements of forms such as Marxism-Leninism (a synthesis of Marx and Lenin's ideas) and such. I am NOT against already-existing-socialist countries - that said, if the DPRK and China are any indication, a socialist country can have multiple parties, as long as they're like-minded and they work together in one unified "vanguard coalition".
I do think that these parties should compete like in bourgeois liberal systems though.
Well you're in the right instance for thaf. This is your chance to check out anarchism 😅
It seems that the kind of discussion OP wants would be well aligned with the spirit of !actualsocialism101@lemmy.dbzer0.com. However, the community unfortunately seems to be inactive.
I was banned from movies@hexbear.net - a place I didn't even know existed until I got banned from it.
But hey... tankies gonna tank.
Now according to the person representing Hexbear, you are banned there for comments made off community and off instance.
But if you did that to them, Hexbear would flip out.
Gotta love how they ban you for no reason but you call out their users and they are innocent.
Edit: oh one comment they liked 1 year ago, wow they totally didn't do that because you're on db0 and whine about us.
Edit: notice how they didn't find it weird how they banned you after nothing for a year. I'm sure that's in good faith!
I did the thought-crime, comrade - I deserve the circular firing squad!
The wall is for those who post in communities outside of their influence. It is a thought crime to express anything Hexbear dislikes! That's counter revolutionary!
What did you post there?
I've never been there.
It was because you spam the same vapid questions repeatedly.
They're even doing it in this thread. The almost exact behavior they were saying they totally weren't doing
And about 50/50 op being the cause whenever it's someone complaining about ml
Edit: 90/10 maybe.
Please explain
It's in the modlog.
