when you accidentily boot into windows instead of linux

[–] ttyybb@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

I booted into windows 3 times before going all in on Linux, it was always just to see it I had a hardware problem or Linux problem

When you are a mercenary and you kill the wrong guy (he hired you to kill his wife)

When you accidentally open Firefox instead of LibreWolf*

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

(I have Firefox as a backup and chrome for sites that suck and break unless opened in chrome; it's a hierarchy thing. I'd dump chrome, but my synology nas regularly shits itself if I don't use chrome, and recently cpanel started breaking under both lw and ff so that's another annoyance...)

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Did you tried changing user agent? Some sites will just give you annoyances/block just for not using chrome

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Is there a way to do it per-site, without an add-on? I haven't messed with user agent spoofing for like 15 years.

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I am sorry but you must use an addon

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

:( bah, alright

[–] RmDebArc_5@feddit.org 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Do you have to use chrome or can you also use chromium (or another chromium based browser)? Practically the same, but less tracking then chrome

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Yeah, I should switch over to chromium. I don't remember why I went with full-blown chrome, it's been a few years since install.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

When you accidentally:

unblock {https://www.google.com/, https://www.bing.com/} From your routers DNS Black list, enable it in every local fire wall and install chrome.

How exactly did you get Internet Explorer working on Arch?

Using chrome when using lemmy is quite ironic

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

IE

Absolutely, IE hasn't been part of Windows since the beginning of Windows 10.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Who on Lemmy uses Internet explorer?!

[–] Mickey7@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The point was how shocked you are if you accidentally pull it up

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Seeing as it's not installed on anything since 8.1 I would be really really shocked.

Well not really, I have seen systems uses by governments and infrastructure.

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 2 points 4 days ago

Plenty of airports still run on Windows XP.

Since upgrading is a massive cost that brings forward new problems they don't immediately have the solution for. Which you don't want when lives are at risk.

[–] YeahIgotskills2@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Edge. It's called Edge now. I have no idea why.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

Old meme sir but it checks out

At least the old versions of Windows didn't have copilot

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 4 days ago

I thought they renamed that infernal thing to something else. It's at the tip of my tongue. Like what's at the end of a table. Or if you're real nervous you're at an? A sword has two of them? That's where the bleeding is at.

Ah something stupid like that. What was that deepshit company that made this browser anyway? Something to do with a house...it has a door and a...? You can jump out the?... It's dark in here let's open a?....an elevator usually has no?...ah probably something stupid.
