Will the Minnesota guard stand with Minneapolis by arresting every single ICE agent in their jurisdiction for conspiracy to commit murder?

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 32 points 2 days ago (3 children)

We shouldn’t arrest Nazis. There are more effective ways to deal with them.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Indeed, these agents should be treated as hostile combatants on American soil, and dealt with as such. State governments, do your job to protect citizens from a rogue terrorist federal government.

We gave the nazis trials once before. Didn't work. It's time to learn from history.

I'm so happy I'm finally seeing more comments like this. Started to think I was alone.

I think people get shy because they are afraid they'll end up on a list. Just like in an abusive relationship, they self censor out of fear for their well-being. I get it, but I'm probably on a list already, so oh well.

Fucking finally, a governor who understands their mandate

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Since he said he’s not running again he could really give ‘em hell.

Fingers crossed hoping this was always the plan

Minneapolis stand up! America wake the fuck up!

[–] brygphilomena@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Activate the state guard, not the national guard. Prepare for fuckery from the federal government when you use the national guard.

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Does Minnesota have a state guard? NC got rid of theirs back in the 90s because they were useless.

[–] BarbedDentalFloss@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Uhg. We left a red state and moved here to avoid the political shit. Guess we get to witness ground zero of the next American civil war.

[–] AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today 38 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The red states constantly send their own criminals to blue states and then call them crime ridden hell holes.

The darkly hilarious part is that the red states that bus people to major cities in blue states still have way higher crime rates than blue states and blue cities. But facts don’t matter anymore, so the dogmatic right doesn’t give a shit and eats up the propaganda.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 1 day ago

also sends thier homeless there, and calls it a homeless problem of the state.

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 6 points 1 day ago

With the way things are going, nowhere is safe from American political shit. First Venezuela, then Cuba, Mexico, Greenland, Canada, Nigeria(??) and so on

[–] traxex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It’s insane. Red states make it hell to live there so no sane person would ever move there making it deeper red.

Yeah my previous state is so far gone that it is beyond salvage in my lifetime. I tried but it's not something an individual like myself could change. So we gave up and moved to greener pastures where the state functions well. MN has amazing metrics - they're ranked in the top 5 for just about everything except public land. It's great up here. Or at least it was until this last week....

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago

the rich lives in some of these states, buts only ever in enclaves that are untouchable to the rest of the plebs. otherwise most live BOUGIE affluent blue areas.

The Minnesota National Guard is under state jurisdiction and can be used by the governor to assist the state during disasters and other state emergencies. In times of war, Minnesota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen can be called into federal active service with the president of the United States as commander in chief.

So what would stop Trump from declaring it's a "time of war," so he's now in command and the National Guard have to assist ICE?

and you lost your leverage by dropping out of the gov race. it just emboldens the right wingers, accussing you of fraud.
