I love Zahn, Dark Winds is a great show, and this was a great read. 💜

Thanks for doing the extra labor here.

Your first time flying!? Haha. Sorry! It really isn't like that normally. 🤣 Fortunately pilots can avoid those things. 😁

Had to look up several articles to better understand the shortage and it is still not entirely clear to me. Seems to be numerous factors all affecting Japan at the same time. I don't envy them. increased prices in staple foods is really hard.

But being accurate with the headline makes it less click baity. 😏 Honestly, this article is scant on details.

Data centers don't usually have an "X-ray polarization detector for picking up brief cosmic phenomena." Like you said, it seems more like a scientific tool than an actual "data center."

They've certainly had to come up with some way to effectively radiate the heat into space. The article doesn't mention it though. i presume it's one of the main reasons for networking so many machines together?

Exactly, there's a lot of different factors that can affect cognition.

Thanks for the share. This article led to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequential_hermaphroditism and then further down the rabbit hole. Hermaphroditism is wild.

Thanks for sharing this. It was an informative read and quite relevant.

There's so much to detest about the president of the United States, but setting his targets on the pharmaceutical industry might actually turn out to be beneficial for citizens. Maybe.

I'm sure this executive order, like most of his, will be challenged (and rightfully so). His motivation is clearly focused on the US budget rather than benefiting citizens struggling with healthcare costs. However, I wonder if this might actually get the ball rolling with some much much needed reform. One can hope?

I've watched season 1 through 6 and there definitely were more than one episodes that just left me feeling like crap... But there's so many incredible episodes intermixed, like San Juniperno, that has made me keep coming back.

Today I watched the first episode of season 7, Common People, and... I just can't. It's done me in.

I have a question for those who have watched the remainder of the episodes. Are there any episodes that end on any sort of positive note or are they all this dreadful?

Maybe it's just not for me anymore. I get the premise behind Black Mirror, but there is something about this episode that just kind of shoved me past a point that I'm not sure it's worth it for me to keep watching.

To prism.

It's a light sentence, but gives them time to reflect.

Monica Lewinsky on the reclamation of her life, bullying, and her podcast on reclamation.

I get that she was caught within a political scandal, but what happened to her and since then is so much more than that. I hope this video isn't removed because of what happened in the past. This is quite literally the first time I've seen her since the late '90s and it was such a breath of fresh air to see her being treated so wildly different than back then.

I thought it was worth sharing and I think it's important to remember that the people involved in "scandals" like these are real humans like us, deserving of being treated with dignity and compassion.

Yeah, affairs suck, but hypocrisy suck more. This is a private matter and people need to mind themselves before they mind others and their doings. What was done to her was terrible and I'm so glad to see her picking up pieces of her life.

This show was honestly such a special gem. 💜💜💜

I'm going to miss all the cleverness, great writing, and loads of fun. I wish I could be friends with all the characters. Boimler and Mariner's relationship is so wonderful. I want IRL friends like all of them. 🙃

So long Lower Deck.

Engage the core.

So I just watched this trailer. I can't figure out if I should be laughing or scared. It's Paul Rudd, so I definitely want to see it. I have no idea what's going on though...

Does anyone have the scoop on what this movie is actually about?

I see this often and wonder how much I miss as a result. Imgur links neither render as a link nor an image. I only know it's a link to an image when I view it the same post via the WebUI or another app. I don't even realize these are images most of the time and just scroll past.

Is it simply not being handled yet? A bug? Design decision?

I have finally figured out a way to poorly and incorrectly mispronounce "dólares" so that it would finally let me through the exercises that include numbers and money. There is no single word it has struggled to understand more than that one. And trust me, I am saying it correctly. Good grief!

What about you? What words does Duo refuse to accept from you?

Does anyone know where I could find comparisons of the various Lemmy clients available? I'd like to see something contrasting things like app maturity, features available, update release frequency, and etc?

I'm looking to try out some of the more mature clients since the one I'm using (Boost) has been exhibiting some problems for me recently. I wanted to narrow down the cause of the problem and will be trying other clients to make sure my instance isn't the issue. I'm writing this from Eternity (Nightly).

Is there a way to enable logs outputs? I'm getting pretty regular timeout errors on my primary instance of choice. I'd really like to know more details about what's going on.

Time outs (lemmy.ca)
submitted 4 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) by GlassHalfHopeful@lemmy.ca to c/lemmy_ca_support@lemmy.ca

Ever since things came back up after the Jan 5th outage, I've started to encounter regular timeouts. I will scroll past a couple dozen number posts and then it will stop as of there are no more. Within a few seconds, the application produces a time out error.

I use Boost for Lemmy as my client, but I'm not convinced that the issue is the app since switching my instance allows me to continue scrolling without a problem. And to be clear, prior to January 5th, I've never experienced a timeout in the app.

I'm curious if I'm the only one experiencing timeouts on Lemmy.ca. If so, then I'm curious if the admins are aware of any issue.

[10 Feb 2025 Update: After Lemmy.ca was updated to 0.19.9, cloudflare account changed, and their hardware infrastructure replaced... everything has started functioning normally again. I can't say what the cause was yet, but the WebUI and any connected app is scrolling through feeds without any timeouts now. 💯]
