I’m still surprised you can’t use HomePod minis as surround sound satellites. Or even better just have 4 full HomePods for a super easy and compact but great sounding setup.

[–] davypelletier@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

give me a line in.

[–] alfcalderone@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hope they release some Homekit-driven hardware to give them cause to make homekit stable. It's so unreliable. Latest iOS update broke my entire setup and it's still not right weeks later.

That article is pretty low quality writing. The logic that “every mini product has a larger counterpart so therefore there must be a HomePod max” coming is ignoring the fact that a larger HomePod already exists.

[–] Snoo93079@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s larger but not large. I have a google home max and the output is significant. The average consumer cares more about price than audio quality though, sadly.

HomePod soundbar would be amazing

[–] bso45@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do not care until Siri works

[–] stanxv@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"I'm sorry, I didn't get that."

[–] wicktus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm looking for something like that, I currently have an apple tv connected to 2 homepod mini, I had several audio sync issues but since early 2023 after all the app updates (especially twitch and youtube) & apple software updates fixed them for good.

Looking for a bigger HomePod update to have 2.1 sound system both for the Apple TV & Music, since the big original homepod is, imho, on the verge of being replaced for me (new bluetooth chipsets etc), I'm waiting for its successor

Wtf is this

[–] kelev@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was just saying the other day that I really want to get rid of my Echo (Alexa is annoying AF) and wanted Apple to release a decent and affordable Homepod. I guess that's not the direction they're going in though 😭😭😭

Recently picked up HomePod mini brand new for $50. Honestly really decent.

I live in an apartment so there’s only so much automation I can do, but it works awesome with HomeKit. I automated my lights and fan, works like a charm. Magic handoff is awesome too

If owned a house I’d definitely place HomePods all over the place, with HomePod max being in living room or something

This looks crap. Why would it have Apple TV integration?

[–] aspenextreme03@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The “could” announce anything. 😂

[–] AddWittyNameHere@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Would be great if they just made HomePods that are more reliable

[–] gwh811@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If they introduce a HomePod max let’s hope they add the ability to add 3 or 5 set up for home theater set up with Apple TV.

[–] sjsharksfan44@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I bought a single original HomePod a few years ago and now I don't really know what to do with it. I still use it as a speaker with the Apple TV, but they discontinued the original so soon after I bought it that it actually feels like the most wasted Apple Purchase I ever had. I'd like to improve my TV system and maybe mount it to the wall, but not really sure what I want to do with the homepod yet.

[–] peduxe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

that thing looks really hideous even for a concept product

[–] Stipes_Blue_Makeup@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Won’t matter if Siri still sucks.

[–] Pepello@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"with bigger display" like the current ones don't have one, so "bigger" than what?

[–] Kraigius@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Their next new home device is probably going to be a "standby" display to both check security cameras, play music, and act as a living room facetime machine.

It's the natural progression.

[–] creedx12k@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Could but not in 2023. 2024 is more likely. Strong rumors are pointing to 2024.

[–] rightoff303@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What do you all use the HomePod for? I really don’t get the IoT craze.

[–] d1ckpunch68@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

question for the current homepod max/mini users; have plexamp voice controls been added yet? probably my only reason for not getting them originally.

[–] RunningM8@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As long as the current iteration of Siri runs on it it’ll be a completely useless POS.

[–] Thebrotherleftbehind@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Gimme an Apple TV soundbar and subwoofer and let me use HomePods for surrounds

[–] turd_burglar7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] DreadnaughtHamster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hope the profile is low because it’d be a shoe in for a soundbar. If the profile is too high, it’ll obscure the bottom of most TVs.

[–] wild_a@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hope it looks better than that

[–] Portatort@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

An Apple home focused device with a screen that runs standby widgets sounds like a great product

And it strikes me that all that work to put standby on the iPhone was probably done first for a HomePod product and ported to iPhone second.

But it’s really gonna suck if this product is only available in the form of an even more premium HomePod.

[–] Broadest@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can’t wait to hear “where?” when I ask this new, even more expensive HomePod what the weather is lol

[–] TKent96@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They need to improve Siri.

[–] Serialtoon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Never understood why people call the RGB LEDs under a diffuser a “display” when it doesn’t actually display anything but and array of colors

[–] Notyourfathersgeek@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They “could” do a lot of things

[–] BananaKuma@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wonder about a KEF like product

[–] verdant-moon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bigger ? Did I miss something ? Is there already a HomePod with a display ?

[–] goldfouledanchor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just bought two HomePod 2’s

[–] Straight_Truth_7451@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Same man, they going after my wallet hard

[–] igkeit@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Or they could not

[–] sunplaysbass@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have the original HomePod and thought it sounded pretty bad compared to Sonos products. By far my most disappointing Apple purchase.

[–] DiscombobulatedAge30@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

But still will dip shit Siri onboard? Pass.

[–] rampzn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They could have announced a Macbook Pro with 16gb but they didn't.
