Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

Sgt Benjamin N Pennington, 26, died from injuries sustained during Iranian strike on airbase in Saudi Arabia

The Pentagon has identified the seventh US service member killed in the war with Iran as 26-year-old army Sgt Benjamin N Pennington, who is a resident of Glendale, Kentucky.

In a statement on Monday the department said Pennington died on Sunday from injuries sustained during an Iranian strike on the Prince Sultan airbase in Saudi Arabia on 1 March. The incident is under investigation, the statement said.

Pennington was assigned to first space battalion, first space brigade, Fort Carson, Colorado, the Pentagon said. The brigade is part of the army space and missile defense command.

These motherfuckers killed 170 school girls. Rot in hell.

Pennington was assigned to first space battalion

So why was he on earth?

[–] Tm12@lemmy.ca 53 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Technically isn’t anymore

I need to stop reading this comment because every time I do, I give the same little guffaw then feel guilty for laughing then start to contemplate whether I should but then I read it again and the cycle repeats.

7th that's been admitted to.

The real casualty count is being heavily censored.

Allied NATO countries are reporting US soldiers arriving to their hospitals end masse.

someone suggests they're likely going to suppress the bad news

You: runs in demanding a source to a postulation

Edit: wow, a lot of people cannot read for shit.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

People can type anything they want into these little boxes that then get posted for everyone to see. Asking for a source to backup your statements is always acceptable.

Edit: Yes. There's nothing wrong with requesting a source for information. Lol

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

Well they don't usually take the dead ones to a hospital.

[–] rf_@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

I would like to learn more, do you have some links? Or where are you hearing about these?

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 5 points 4 days ago

COVID was when we saw in real time that America is willing to manipulate the numbers. It's a really depressing reality and incredibly disrespectful to the families of the troops who died.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Since it's mostly a bombing campaign I don't see how it would be much higher. It's not that much different than the casualties seen during the gulf war. Only 219 US deaths from that entire conflict

[–] Lucius_Sweet@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

This soldier died in Saudi Arabia. Unlike the gulf war, Iran can strike back with greater accuracy than they were given credit for. This is nothing like the gulf war in terms of the capabilities of the opponent. The USA will also not be able to win this war with air strikes alone, boots on the ground will be needed.

[–] Jaberw0cky@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Good? Doesn’t everyone else hope that Iran gets a least a few devastating strikes in? They are the victim here.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

If you stop testing for it, the cases go way down

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 21 points 4 days ago

Oh no! Not 7?!

I can’t believe they’re gonna report on each US soldier individually in contrast to the utterly deafening silence on the mountains upon mountains of dead people they leave behind for their precious pedoprez.

If I travelled back in time to 26 years ago to tell this guy's parents that their son will die to be a distraction because an orange reality TV star, bankruptcy champion, 34 felony holding, confirmed rapist and racist, multi crime committing, old aged, narcissistic pathological liar, mushy brained dementia riddled imbecile was trying to 'flood the zone with shit' just to protect itself from the decades of child rapes -and most probably even more evil shit- then do you think they'd believe me?

The thing is, I know it happened and yet even I can't believe it.

Get out of my head!

It feels cold to say, but 7 dead soldiers just isn't much. 21 soldiers die per year in training accidents 17-22 veterans commit suicide every day

That 7 dead number is nothing. However, the fact that we are being led by a buncg of sex trafficing rapists is disturbing beyond belief.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Isn’t it around 22% of all vets that end up committing suicide?

Treat a ton of soldiers as disposable, talk down to them, make a bunch of their new friends die over pointless nonsense, and then when they retire just forget they exist -> super stable, totally normal and healthy system

[–] modus@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

True. They shouldn't be in the national news so prominently.. But he also shouldn't be using them as pawns in his game of checkers.

[–] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Either these soldiers think they are doing something heroic or they feel forced to do this, either way I pity them

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago

Benjamin N Pennington

Died for a child rapist, murderer, eater.

He's not earning any sympathy if he was part of Trump's old "Weaponize Space" bullshit.

EDIT: Wrong department, my bad

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You're thinking of Space Force. A Totally legit branch of the military.

Not to be confused with the Netflix Series of the same name starring Steve Carrell and John Malkovich, which for future reference, we'll just call "the good one", though that really isn't saying much.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 2 points 4 days ago

Shame the TV show wasn't any good. Such an incredible lineup that was wasted on trying to create "the office" in space.

It would have been hilarious to search for Space Force and have the show be the first thing you find.

[–] krzschlss@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Time to paint more amazon delivery vans black.

This pisses me off so much. Seeing someone the same age as you dying in this stupid shit is so aggravating.

Imagine dying/killing for trump and jesus.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

They died for the bloody merican empire

Netanyahu doesn't even believe in jesus, he died for trump and entanyahu

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

and these service members are just following illegal orders, huh?

kind of hard to feel any sympathy for them. it's been a few years now. they've probably had time to get out, and chose not to.

I'm curious how long they can hide the numbers. Do soldiers call their loved ones every day? Or write them once a week?

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Krasnov already asked his Moscow handlers how to hide the casualty figures.
