I'm glad I don't watch these live anyone
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
Man, configuration on these new models is weird.
RAM options:
- M3: 8/16/24 GB (same as M2)
- M3 Pro: 18/36 GB
- M3 Max: 36/96 GB if you get the binned version, 48/64/128 GB if you get the unbinned one
So an M3 Pro with 38 GB RAM is $100 cheaper than an M2 Pro with 32 GB RAM, but you do trade two performance cores for two efficiency ones. Probably no practical difference for most, but surprising nonetheless. (Also, the memory bandwidth has been reduced from 200 GB/s to 150; M3 and M3 Max are unaffected)
The minimum price for a 48 GB RAM model (it's tied to an unbinned CPU and GPU) is the same one would pay for an M2 Max with 64 GB RAM. If you still want 64 GB, it's $200 more expensive now.
…But if you're really RAM-bound and don't care for maximum CPU or GPU performance, you could also get a binned M3 Max with 96 GB RAM, and it's only $100 more expensive than the unbinned model with 64 GB RAM. That's $100 cheaper than an unbinned M2 Max with the same 96 GB RAM.
Why did they not update the Magic Keyboard, mouse and trackpad to USB-C!?!?
Is it such a big deal? These aren't portable devices like iPhones or Bluetooth speakers.
They sit on your desk - the cable is USB C to Lightning... so it's not like it's difficult to charge them.
You've clearly been trained to accept exactly what Tim Cook does or does not give you. "Big deal". No, life in Gaza or Ukraine is a big deal. None of this is. But would it be nice to fully move on from lightning? Is it maybe time for that? I would say yes.
I giggled and smiled when Tim appeared and said "good evening," and I gasped with delight when the end screen shot displayed "This event was shot on iPhone and edited on Mac." For a first of its kind time and themed event, I was impressed.
I also watched it for no other reason than that, though I've been an iPhone and Apple Watch user for years, I just got my first MacBook Air less than two weeks ago. I was curious to see if a new Air would be part of the line up.
As far as my new M2, yes, yes, I am in Love! A slight learning curve coming from a lifetime of Windows PCs, but I'm getting the hang of it. Zero complaints.
Macbook Pro with a touchscreen would be awesome. Is there any specific reason why we don't have it yet?
I have here one ~5yo HP x360 with a touchscreen and it's awesome for media consumption.
What does everyone think of getting a Macbook with M2 Max versus M3 Pro? It looks like they'd be a comparable price now, but I can't tell what the differences are through all the buzzwords.
I went from my 27 inch 2019 iMac to this new 24 inch one but I’m annoyed they didn’t give it more than 24 gb of ram….
Studio Display… with an M3pro/max…. How hard is this? Why is this not a thing?
I’ll wait for an M3 Air.
Disappointed they didn’t bump the minimum storage on the 16” MacBook Pro tiers. 512GB of storage isn’t enough and charging $200 for 1TB is ridiculous.
God the storage is expensive
Will wait and buy a mac when it comes out in Titanium and FaceID unlock feature.
This event being shot on iPhone 15 Pro was the main thing that wowed me
That’s it?!
Also the macs are more expensive in UK now, lame
Edit: OH NAH the m3 macbook pro has 8 gigabytes of ram standard 😭😭😭just wtf
Why are people making such a big deal about this? Never buy the base model! Goes for cars too
People love complaining
Edit: OH NAH the m3 macbook pro has 8 gigabytes of ram standard 😭😭😭just wtf
They lowered the price, except if you upgrade to 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, which is probably reasonable in this day and age, the price is the same.
The iMac segment felt like they needed to stretch things out to reach a full 30 minutes. They used a lot of words and graphics to say "iMac has M3 now, and we changed nothing else."
love the new BlackBook Bro
nice processor, apple. but can it play cities skylines 2 🤔
18 GB RAM?
Are M1 and M2 pros seeing a price reduction with the launch of the M3?
16in MacBook Pro m2 512 just bought out of state for tax free, and now I’m considering returning it for the black version.
Idk if the 250-300 I’ll have to pay in difference will be worth the new color and upgrades
Is it just me, or has the old MacBook Pro with TouchBar been silently discontinued?
They really are taking gaming seriously... /s
All those hardware upgrades and you couldn't show us a real game running?
Those game snippets were iPad quality 5 years ago.
Ikr, it was a bit embarrassing
Having thought about it thoroughly, there’s nothing here that blows me away except for the fact it was all shot on iPhone. That’s properly impressive!
They kept in such a high pace, made me feel there're something huge or even a 'one more thing' was coming.
But nothing happened. Tim said have a good night.
$2600 CAD for 1tb and 16gb ram? I’ll stick to my 16gb ram M1 Air
Damn those rumor websites told me the homepod max was coming
Actually kind of surprised Apple put this much effort into such a small announcement.
They mailed packages to content creators, organised watch parties, switched to a completely different timing, produced all of those Halloween-themed transitions ... all for an event that lasted half an hour.
Weren't the M2 Pro/Max MacBooks Pro unveiled last year via a press release? There wasn't that much different here - base MacBook Pro has been integrated into the new Pro format, M3 coming to iMac, and a new colour.
I suppose they really wanted to emphasise the mesh shaders, ray tracing and other capabilities of M3, even though a lot of that was already covered during the iPhone event.
M3 max is 2x faster than the M2 Max....
So, the M3 Pro seems like an insanely small upgrade (perhaps even a regression?) from the M2 Pro? Am I reading that it has LESS P corrs than the M2 pro???
Just bought a 14 inch M1 Pro, tough timing
I love the new colour, but nothing that would warrant an upgrade from my 16 inch M2.
I feel like the black would be a fingerprint magnet, right?
Welp, if the refurbished 13" MPBs run out before I can grab one I guess my next laptop will be an Asus or Acer.
I've looked at the 14" and 16" in person and the notch is just too noticeable for me.
🥱
At this rate I feel I’m going to stay with my M1 Mac Mini forever.
The scary part was a 8gb of ram for a 2100€ laptop lol
I'm pretty sure that they are not doing the 27" iMac anymore so that if people want a bigger screen, and want to stick with Apple products, they have to shell out for the Studio Display. If they get the Studio Display then they have to get a Mac Mini or a MacBook instead of just the iMac.
I'm looking to get the 14inch M2 pro, is the single fan a problem? Was the 14inch always single fan?
I’m amazed they’re still selling that lightning Magic Mouse.
