Good news is nearly all my taste is back. Bad news is I have this lingering taste and smell that I can't seem to shake off.

Decided to take the rest of the week off and head down the bellarine.

Shout out to the train inspector / announcer..

"We are now arriving at the magical station called geelong... station". He has seen things.

The weirdest thing I've seen in Geelong is a toddler having a poo under a tree and her dad bag it up and pop it in the bin. It may have been my own family. I pretended it wasn't.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago

From what I saw today this actually restores my faith in g-town.

Little dog comes trotting out of the kid's bedroom "look what I found mummy" and he has a wafer biscuit hanging out of his mouth. He is such a dibber dobber.

He’s helping you clean - what a sweetheart!

Feeling extra tired today. Can't place if it's mental or physical fatigue. I have played 8 hours of tennis over the last 3 days. But I could play all day long if my body allowed me to 😅

Super excited that my new apt has a tennis court!! Moving there in a couple of weeks 😇😇

[–] bull@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago

That's a bit fancy! Exciting times.

People need to see my linguine in the dinner post. It's more art than food.

Sometimes I long for the days when you had to be on your computer to get online and it felt like a treat. we have been utterly spoiled by smartphones. I don't know if I can ever quite untether myself.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago

I rarely us my smartphone , it helps I'm half blind and can't read it and that it's small

1st November means it is time for the next phase of The Diet. Aiming for another 5kg by Christmas/New year.

I can't say I did well on the exercise phase, and completely failed to get in to a routine of doing strength training. I did do a decent amount of exercise in the form of gardening, but I need to reassess my ongoing exercise plans.

Already friggin November.. I'm barely used to writing "2023" and it's almost done. I feel like I 'just' turned 40 but that was back at the end of April. Time doesn't march on.. it can jog on.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

A "friend" once told me (when I turned 50) that as we get older time seems to go faster because each passing year represents a smaller percentage of our lives. So for example, for a 10 year old a year seems like a huge amount of time because they've only experienced ten of them, but for a 50 year old a year seems much smaller because they've experienced a lot more of them. I can see their point and it feels like they could be right, but gee fucking thanks, fuck.

[–] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago

Seems like nothing significant happens and it’s all Groundhog Day…..

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago

This has certainly been my experience. And doubly so talking about events with kids. I'll talk about photos of them and the days they were taken. They often don't remember events that feel really recent for me. I don't mean baby photos, but photos where they were 5+.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago (3 children)

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

Melbourne is 8 months winter, 4 months Summer. Anything else is propaganda.

[–] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

Ikr. How cold was it today….was 10 degrees at lunch time.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This headache can F off. We thought kiddo was doing better but he just chucked everywhere so clearly not. This week can eat a bag of dicks.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

oh no, hugs for the Break family

The cat just griefed me in Minecraft

Edit: She's a great player for someone without thumbs. Autojump was on so by sitting on the keyboard she was able to run the character around and flatten some grass with the shovel. But then she threw the enchanted shovel away somewhere and kept running. I never did find it to get it back

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Miss Meow likes to lie on top of the nice warm computer when I play. Unfortunately the power button is also on top of the computer, and a well placed paw can lead to my computer suddenly turning off mid game.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Mine like to climb on top of me. I basically perceive the internet with a cat anus permanently in my peripheral vision

That's an unusual but very effective adblocker

One hot dog please and no ratchety-ass cream cheese. Jeffrey Dahmer can have it.

[–] Force_majeure122@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Coffee and a suitably business-like meal

I'm actually out of work I can do at the moment, and will likely not be able to do anything for the rest of the week. No more meetings for today either. I'm going to have to find some training to do or something! Or.. *looks at golf clubs*

Couple of new starts today:
Nov 1 - start of Movember
New Sprint starting at work. Bonus: I got everything I was supposed to get done in the last sprint.
New henchman starting to help me out with some of the things I've got on my plate.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

We need something other than Movember for people who do not have the appropriate facial hair to be included. I propose Mowvember for those interested in lawn care, Moovember for dairy and cattle farmers, Movember for removalists and Noember for firefighters.

LMAO just got an overdue notice from our REA because rent was apparently due yesterday. Our agreement states we pay on the 1st of every month, and that's what we've been doing every month for 2 years now. Like oh no, we lived for a few hours free in the house gasp!

[–] bananafungus@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

really feeling the midweek slump today, just want to crawl under my blankies and watch movies.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago

Man... I should not have posted about buying bulk biological cleaning concentrate. I tempted fate.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago

Agreed to quickly look at some stuff for a potential freelancing opportunity in Dec/Jan (an extremely simple/basic project) and I should be excited and on top of it but why do I feel like I have to force myself to just look at the stuff and throw back an estimate of hours/costs sigh I'm good at this, I can make sense of it quickly and feel competent/confident but there's still nothing inside

[–] bull@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

PSA there's a new flavour of Mother out, Rainbow Sherbet and it's delicious. I thought it might be too sweet but they've nailed it.
