If you're not in a disaster response area and you buy bottled water I think you're an idiot.

And even then they should probably use aluminum cans for that.

Just get a reusable fucking bottle or you're a piece of shit. Bottled water is the most unforgivable sin of plastic waste I can imagine. At least with soda it's like I don't know, there aren't fountains where you can get soda unless you go to a fast food place. Water though, unless you live somewhere where the water is really nasty The tap water is completely safe. Filters and water coolers are all over the place.

There are many places other than "disaster response areas" in the world where tap water isn't safe to drink.

I agree with you when it comes to bottled non-sparkling water at home. But sparkling water doesn't come from public fountains nor do those exist everywhere you might travel to.

'm just saying if you have literally any other option besides bottled water and you choose it instead something's wrong with yas

It's expensive for what it is, and you're demonstrating your ignorance of that which makes you look rich and ignorant.

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 23 hours ago

Because it's fucking water and it's $3 or more a bottle.

Ergo, you're paying for the name. The water is worth like 30¢ tops. The rest of the money is going to make some random asshole rich. Maybe go post in UnpopularOpinion about why that's so important to you, but be wary of flames from people tired of everything going up.

If you compare it to tap water, it is absurdity expensive.

Last time I saw Fiji water, it was $8 for a 20oz bottle. Next to it was walgreens brand for 99 cents.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

And I bet they had a customer water fountain for free.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Lol, certainly not at Walgreens in America but at $0.99 for a bottle, it almost is

Fiji has that special water bottle with the special labeling. Even if it is “just water”, the packaging makes it look expensive compared to the other waters on the shelf.

I remember in high school people would buy the Fiji water bottles and fill them with regular water. It was a status symbol.

Voss does the exact same thing with their glass bottles.

Evian is the “middle class” of the water world.

Norwegian here, can confirm: It's regular tap water. It's bottled quite some distance away from Voss, though.

[–] digger@lemmy.ca 2 points 23 hours ago

And we all can agree that Dasani is not worth it at any price.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

And what about drinking water from the garden hose???

[–] barkybeak@lemmy.zip 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Water from the hose is full of nano bots bioengineered to track your whereabouts.

That’s why I only drink the finest of bottled water

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

I don't know, seems like a better investment to put the nanobots in the bottles designed for drinking.

Also, botted water...bottled water. Coincidence?

I think you probably got the bots.

[–] pipe@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

That's called Phthalatio.

[–] howrar@lemmy.ca 5 points 21 hours ago

Thanks for informing us that you're rich, I guess?

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

A fool and their money are soon parted

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 2 points 21 hours ago

You either live in an airport where everything is ridiculously expensive and you don't see the difference, OR

you are buying knockoff bottled water, someone's selling imitation bottles filled with tap water in your area.
