Fuck Dwayne Johnson for stepping away from being a Democrat because he was losing too many right wing fans in 2020/21. Stepping even more to the right is not not being political.

If this fucking guy runs for president, I swear to god...

There's a third (I guess 4th including the original?) one?

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

It'll be the third in the reboot, or the fourth including the original with Robin Williams. There is no canonical overlap between the reboot and the original, so there's not much reason to count it as the fourth.

Who decided The Rock could act. That guy should be publicly shamed.

Remember that at the time he was replacing Vin Diesel as ”the” action hero in pop culture.

He was a step up. It was just a very small step.

Both can act. They get paid a lot more if they don't

He was a very believable scorpion

Typecasting, I believe it's called

There's no Jumanji past Jumangi 1.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What are you talking about? It had a sequel called Zathura.

[–] Seaguy05@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I didn't know these were actually related. I thought it was a knock off of Jumanji

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So, I actually meant it tongue-in-cheek, since it's basically a spiritual successor (and more in common with Jumanji than the sequels).

But apparently the books they are based on are actually considered in the same universe.

[–] Seaguy05@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That's how I took it at first. But I had no idea there was a second new Jumanji to make the new new one the 4th. I had to look it up on Wikipedia... The worlds source of truth.

These movies do no justice to the original. Some dedication.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Zathura is a more spiritual successor in the vein of board game hijinks.

Couldn't agree more. The first was epic. The remakes were.... kinda meh. I regularly watch the OG Jumanji, but i can't say the same the remakes. I probably won't even bother downloading J4. The rock is overrated anyway.

Can't wait to see how The Rock™ can't lose in this one!

So does being "jumanji'd" refer to getting sucked into jumanji or when jumanji comes out of jumanji. Or is it simply a series of jungle emergencies.
