Good tips here but also don’t let sleep tracking get in your head. You should primarily go off how you feel rather than what your watch is telling you. As long as you’re getting 7/8 hours of sleep (or more) and you feel alright you’re fine.

Otherwise see a doctor.

I’d remove the (or more) people getting over 9 hours of sleep start to develop problems from sleeping too much or it can be a sign of problems currently occurring.

Sleep less, 8-9h max. Also go sleep and wake up same time every day, you start feeling more refreshed. Also Apple Watch gives you 50-60% accuracy on sleep stages. Apple Watch and Polar watches are the most accurate on sleep tracking.

Go to sleep and wake up at same time. Do this for at least a week and you should start to see more deep sleep. Also don’t oversleep. When I oversleep my deep sleep lacks the next night.

My guess is either a pothead or prescription drug enthusiast.

[–] MasatoWolff@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Try and sleep around 8 or 9 hours a night and be consistent with your bedtime and wake up time. Your sleep will sort it self out after a few weeks.

Apple deep sleep is hit or miss. If the algorithm likes you it will score you high. If you aren’t jiving well with the training data used then it will give you these strange and improbably low deep sleep.

And before people say look at the quantified scientist YouTuber…. I watched it all and Theresa in his video with the Apple Watch displayed terrible deep sleep detection with Apple Watch.

[–] data4u@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ok this makes sense because my Oura ring was showing I crushed deep sleep then switched to Apple Watch and I’m getting 15 ish minutes a night

[–] Snoo52211@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Don't sleep with a technical device.

[–] mbritb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How in the world can you sleep for 13 hours?!

[–] Top-Measurement575@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i’ve done it once or twice after 32-40 hrs awake from an all nighter.

[–] povertymayne@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

13hrs of sleep? And you only woke up like twice?😩 brother you are just flexing on us at this point

[–] startingagain13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I always got so little deep sleep. Like a couple of minutes ! Started taking magnesium gylcinate before bed and deep sleep is much better

[–] Gigachad-69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Holy shit, over half the day in bed? That's why you're tired.

[–] Rude_Historian1400@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I got 20 mins of deep sleep last night. So sad about it. Here for any tips!

[–] paveldeal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I sleep for 7 hours and have 45 mins of deep sleep, or 8-9%. Internet tells that it could be 25% and it bothers me a little. Though I feel ok

[–] Pawnderingsoil@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Bro this post doesn’t belong here as Apple Watch doesn’t help you get deep sleep but measures your sleep parameters to the best of its potential but if you must insist you feel sleep deprived I would suggest work hard all day long atleast for 18 hrs a day and let me know how was your sleep 😴

[–] adnilempez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

how does it not belong here if this is literally what my apple watch showed me?

Apple watchOS app for sleep is a cruel joke. Try the autosleep app by tantsissa (it can be tuned to your patterns).

[–] Deleted_dwarf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yo what the fuck … how much free time do you have at hand every day 😅

I hardly ever have deep sleep. Like minute amounts compared to the whole sleep.

[–] adnilempez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

yeah, I have free time on the weekends. I don’t always sleep this much but I do feel tired after.

[–] Deleted_dwarf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you feel tired after, you are sleeping too much (generally speaking)

[–] Puzzled_Arrival_8124@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

46mins of deep sleep in 13 hours of sleep? bro you need less sleep, i get 6 mins of deep sleep in 8 hours of sleep

[–] xCyanideee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You shouldn’t be having that much rem, not that you should take sleep tracking seriously, it’s extremely inaccurate

[–] adnilempez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I always have a lot of REM sleep. I feel like I dream most of the night. I remember a lot of my dreams. and a lot of them are vivid dreams 😳

[–] Holyskankous@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

50-60 mins is about the average for a nights sleep. But 13 hours is pretty wild.

[–] adnilempez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I read 1-2 hours of deep sleep is average. or recommended.

[–] SasuGamerYT@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That looks brutal. I have the same problem but not that intense. Honestly it doesnt matter for me if i sleep 6,8,10,12 or 16h I am tired afterwards.

[–] adnilempez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

yeah, that’s exactly how I am also. I wish I could be consistent and see if that would help.

[–] Civil_Ad_9073@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

First of all it depends on your age, as we get older our deep sleep decreases and second for most people if not all deep sleep happens during the first hours of the night so right after you have fallen asleep. But yeah, you could do some research, in regards to sleep check out the book 'Why we sleep' by Matthew Walker.

[–] C3rb3rus1989@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Deep sleep is always recored only in the first 2 hrs of hitting the bed, after which an individial always switches from REM and Core. No matter how long you sleep.

[–] Piano_mike_2063@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Be careful how much stock you put into those information as it’s not an Electroencephalograph. It’s only an outline of a few biometrics with deduced information.

[–] Ransomes@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Your body don’t need deep sleep when you’re in bed for so long. For having deep sleep- you also have to use your body fysical about 15-16 hours. Then sleep 7-8 hours. And to gain more sleep, also pay attention to WHEN you’re trying to get the deep sleep.

[–] kushbreath416@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you upgrade to Series 9 or Ultra 2, you can use the new double tap feature to get two hours of extra deep sleep per tap. 👌🏻
