Tim Sweeney is a piece of shit nazi and pedophile defender. he is upset because he is putting AI into Unreal Engine the way Microsoft is putting Copilot into Windows. His own stupid decisions are going to make the entire engine anathema to gamers.

Besides projected profits from AI hype, he wants to make devs who use it his personal army against Valve, for he is frustrated to burn so much money without establishing his own monopoly. He wants them to be frustrated with Steam policies on disclosure. And, as a side effect, make them more happy about EGS not having them.
Another example that Valve is in a dominant position not through exploitation but the fact that they run a business people actually want to interact with, and the competition keep shooting their own legs off.
Yeah I want to see this next to the CEO complaining that no one wants to buy anything on his store
Out of touch CEO is out of touch, more at seven.
If it is the future of game development to use AI, and it is so fantastic for productivity and so on, then why is it a problem to label it on the store page?
Gabe and Steam lives rent free in this mans head.
Let's get back to that Scarlet letter though.
If you think AI is awesome, what's the issue with disclosing it? Is because you're scared people will disagree with your ethical choices?
Such a self own. It should be anyone's interest to disclose if something has AI in it or nah, no matter whether you like or dislike AI.
What did they do before AI existed? Boy, it must have been really hard back then to make games.
Of course, they were all better somehow... Curious.
If "consumers" wanted AI slop, they would buy your game. Labelling it is not the problem, it's the fact that they can't hide it to screw over disserning buyers.
The label on steam thst states that the game needs an online connection does not seem to bother that many people, Tim.
You have to choose from either not using tools that can make you way more productive, and probably failing due to competition that does.
Which is it? AI kills games or makes them beat the competition? What an insane level of doublespeak.
Exactly what I thought when I read that line. How can anyone believe such deluded logic? Does he know that this couldn't make sense when he says it?
and probably failing due to competition that does.
If the competition also has to disclose AI usage, then they'll be equally disadvantaged by their own AI labels.
No -- they're worried about competition that doesn't use AI.
This reminds me that Epic, unlike Steam, allows crypto games on their store. For a while, it was being absolutely flooded with crypto shovelware, drowning out more worthwhile titles. It was one of several reasons why I stopped using the store for anything but the weekly free games.
In other words: Sweeney is wrong once again and it's not doing him and his money pit of a store any favors.
crypto games
I hadn't heard of this until now, and I would like to continue not hearing about it.
Jeez its almost like customers dont want AI gen in their games. Cry me a river Tim Sweeney, and either figure out how to better utilize AI to make things people actually want, or dont use it at all
shut up tim. you're an idiot
If I'm being honest about it, Epic Games responding like that to what Gaben requires on Steam is completely childish.
Yeah, who wouldn't want to disclose if AI was used in any project. I'd rather do that myself if I were to get into something long these lines.
