Bears are going to lose on Sunday and people are going to lose their minds blaming Fields. Some delusional meatheads will even be clamoring to put Bagent back in. But let's take a step back and look at the big picture.

  • Bagent got two wins in four games against dogshit teams. The Lions are legit and are the best team the Bears have played since the Vikings, but more realistically since the Chiefs.

  • Fields has been out for a month. Any player will have cobwebs after being out that long.

  • The coaching staff is still dogshit, too. They will find a way to fuck it up in the second half. Or more realistically, they will do nothing different in the second half at which point the Lions will have the Bears completely figured out.

And for all the Caleb Williams stans out there, this is all you need to know to realize he's not the answer because any NFL defense is better than every NCAA defense. Just admit that JF1 has only played for HCs and OCs who don't deserve to coach at a JuCo. Every QB would suck ass under these coaches.

I look forward to JF1 holding the ball for 5 seconds before panicking and making some sort of mistake.

“Before a lot of you even start complaining and throwing our the same boring takes, i’m going to complain and throw out the same boring takes”

[–] dtdude87@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You don’t have to put Bagent down to make yourself feel better about Fields. I’m hoping Fields does great, but no excuses for him. Lions have a great team but they give up lots of points, I expect Fields to do well, if he doesn’t that’s on him.

[–] SD40couple@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So much confidence the excuses are already coming out.

If Fields is that guy, this is exactly the type of game he needs to win.

Great QBs put teams on their backs and carry them to victories. If Fields is not that guy, it is time to move on and find someone that is.

[–] jakej619@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Didn’t you know? Fields won’t be that guy until bears get five 1st round picks on the line, a top 5 Rb, one or two more top 20 WRs and the best OC football has ever seen. Then we will know for sure if fields is that guy or not. All these other things are just holding him back

Stay ahead of the sticks, no turnovers.

That's it.

It's really that simple.

Complimentary football. Makes every other squad look better. Team wins. WE Win.

Fields is terrible but I’d rather have him play as a tank commander. Looking forward to him being gone next season.

[–] Moddelba@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The bears only shot at an elite qb is to sign a free agent or trade for one like they did with cutler. I have no faith that they will be able to develop a qb.

[–] KingRemoStar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You know Caleb will have a TE and a #1 WR maybe 2 if he is on the Bears. Right now USC don’t have a top tier high draft pick weapon like Addison the year before.

[–] Intelligent-Sink9585@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Any real fan would want either one of these guys to work out. Ppl are tired of hearing the excuses on the guy in his 3rd season…

[–] shellsquad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eeek. Your last line sealed it for me. No, not even close. Every QB would not suck ass on this team. That's insane.

It's an "any given week" league. Detroit's defense isnt that great. Bears running game, especially with Fields back, should be able to grind out some long drives and control the clock and make it closer than people think. I say that is what should happen. More likely that we are going to get 37 screen passes and lose 35-9 with our coaching staff

As far as Fields goes, I don't think any one game between now and the end of the year is going to make or break it for him. There is no reason to not look at the body of work as a whole.

Detroit's defense isnt that great. Bears running game, especially with Fields back, should be able to grind out some long drives and control the clock and make it closer than people think.

Detroit's rushing defense is allowing the 6th fewest Yards per Attempt.

Neither team is likely to be able to run a bunch (and if either teams O-line is likely to crack the other team's D-line, it would be the Lions' rolling over the Bears') and then it will be Jared Goff and the Lions receivers at home in their cozy dome where they are awesome vs. Fields and the Bears' passing game.

I bet I know who wins that matchup.

You know it’s bad when you have to put up a Reddit thread making excuses for why your QB can’t be expected to win six days in advance

[–] lkn240@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pre-excuses.

I love how the Bears sub somehow thinks they can scout Williams better than all the professional scouts.

LOL - you people are fucking cringe.

I won't judge Fields first game back as harshly, but at this point of his career, every game matters. Coaching aside, it's time he comes to ball out. I still believe in his potential, but he has to realize it.

[–] HereJustBcuz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So fields stans want us to keep him off the hope of NEXT game being the turning point but also want to make sure that we know the NEXT game's performance isnt his fault.

I predict a win and this will be the Lions trap game

It's not just about Fields, though. Both the "maybe Fields will ball out for the next seven games" AND the "look how improved our defense is!" people are going to have a bad time on Sunday. Possibly also the "our offensive line is one piece away from being solid" folks

Sunday is more than likely going to put a lump of coal in everyone's stocking.

[–] Dilligaf_1963@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There isn't a chance in hell the Bears compete with the Lions.

[–] mrbucket08@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It is not a good sign if we need to make excuses for our supposed franchise QB before he's even thrown a ball

[–] pokisan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dickriders … Assemble!

[–] WorkMeBaby1MoreTime@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, the Lions are far better and Fields is rusty. If JF1 plays like ass, his time here is over. He's had plenty of chances. We need to see SOME SORT of progression. I just don't see it happening.

[–] boardmonkey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Every QB would suck ass under these coaches.

This is the thing that I have been pushing since last year. Only an experienced Vet QB can do well in our system, because there is absolutely no development program. They throw these kids in like they have been in the league for 10 years as a starter. "Oh, you've only stated 3 games? You should be fine with 5 reads, a five man O-line, and only 1 of your WRs that actually knows their route. Don't worry, we have a check down and Claypool is gonna block."

[–] sloowhand@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Getsy still thinks he has Rodgers playing QB.

[–] FuckTheCrabfeast@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean you're kinda doing the same thing here making excuses already, just on the opposite side of what you think "meatheads" will say after the game.

I am at the same place I am before the season started. It's not so much about wins and losses and more about how Justin plays and operates the offense. Up to this point it has gone worse than expected and bad enough to warrant moving on from him. He can change that by playing well the rest of the season and staying on the field.

But we can't continue to make up excuse after excuse for the guy. OMG he has to play the Lions!? Cool, if he's our QB of the future he needs to play them twice a year. Let's see what you got.

As for Caleb Williams stans (as if there aren't Fields stans here....) that's also kinda weak and cherry-picked. All the baked in excuses for Fields also apply to USC where he's not exactly playing with a stacked team. Can you name anyone else rated as a top prospect from USC coming out in the '24 or '25 draft? I cannot.

[–] No-Author-508@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

lol Caleb is 10x the player Fields will ever be. Every professional scout disagrees with you. Learn ball meathead.

[–] xxmemoriezxx@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s always hilarious to me how meatballs make pre excuses and call anyone who doesn’t agree with their silly takes meatballs. No self awareness

[–] FlyinDtchman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fields is 85% already out... Even if he plays like a golden god the rest of the season.. he's still gonna get traded if the bears have the #1 pick.

The only question is if he's gonna rush for 200 yards when the bears play Atlanta next year with a rookie QB at the helm.
