Scenario 2: Hire Shane Waldron. I don't care who he hired as OC as he'll be the one actually running the offense. I can't say I know enough about potential DC picks. I'd just like Shane
Chicago Bears
Scenario 1: don’t care, will stop watching the team until Flus is gone
Scenario 2: HC - Ben Johnson. DC - Sean McDermott if he gets fired by the Bills??
I’m just saying is it’s not that deep when you look at production vs assets. Look at Houston and Indy as an example how they have shaped their Offense around their stars. Both are looking like they’ve had a ton of growth from last year. As of now we have as many wins as we did last year and would be lucky to squeeze out another. Are we really going to rely on these current coaches to build? The hype was real before the season started, we could be looking like Houston but we don’t.. we have a pretty solid roster and the lousy coaching isn’t helping them grow
HC:
-
Ben Johnson
-
Bobby Slowik
-
Shane Waldron
OC: whoever the HC deems worthy
DC: based solely on the Raiders being the organization they are, Antonio Pierce is an intriguing prospect when he's eventually and characteristically unceremoniously canned by Mark Davis.
- I hope they trade the First overall pick again rather than watch history repeat
- HC- Eric Bieniemy, OC - Ken Dorsey, DC - Chris Harris (former Bear)
I think Bieniemy has showed his chops both with how Sam Howell as looked good and with how KC has dropped off after turning to Nagy. If he can make Howell look good while he holds the ball for too long with Charles Leno at LT, imagine what his offense would like like without those things!
Dorsey just got canned and never created a potent running game despite having multiple NFL starting caliber RBs over the years. Josh Allen papered over a LOT of his cracks.
Yeah, but we are seeing a similar poor running attack with Daboll in NY (creative ways to run inside zone and duo, but not much else). I think its more of a reminant of his system. With an offensive HC whether its Bieniemy, Waldren, or Johnson would bring along their own run system. Dorsey was calling one of the highest EPA/play offenses in the league. His main failure was not being able to stop Allen from YOLOing the ball to the defense
Scenario 2 for sure. Harbaugh, Ben Johnson, and Slowik are my choices for HC. I'm good with any of them.
Under no circumstances do I want Eberflus here next year (barring a miracle playoff run, and even then..). The head coach needs to be the architect of the offense. If it’s not the HC, any good OC that can get Fields/Rookie QB going would be a candidate to be hired elsewhere and the Bears will start over again. Young QBs need stability.
Right now I want Eberflus gone. But in the miracle scenario where we make an actual playoff run I'm eating my words and welcoming him back.
A playoff run means his system is working and the team has bought in. And that it just took a year and a half to get there. That's not gonna happen obviously. But going on a hot streak where we win a bunch of divisional games and contend for a WC spot somehow after the dramatically shitty start we've had would point to some excellent coaching.
People should really start prepping for when nobody goes. For the last 7 games, 0-3 wins probably means Flus/Getsy get their starter QB to develop. 4-5 wins is a good improvement where there's a QB controversy, but coaching is fine. 6-7 wins puts us with a winning record and earns Fields (assuming he's the 1 playing) his 5th year or a longer contract.
Answer to both scenarios is: Ditka.
Scenario 1 - Frank Smith maybe?
Scenario 2 - Brian Flores
In general I want an offense that is lead by someone who's actually from the McVay/Shanahan/McDaniel tree. Meaning they have experience calling plays and coordinating in those offenses. On Defense if they keep Flus, they'll need someone who can come in and Coordinate his style Defense. I don't know how many people are left in the league who can do that. Maybe promote Jon Hoke?
If they fire Flus, I want a HC under 50 years old, in more of a CEO role. The new DC should bring a modern 4-2 scheme with matching coverages. And not be afraid to Blitz and get creative with pressures.
I want Harbaugh, I'll trust him with OC and DC choice. Second choice would be Ben Johnson to be HC.
I like the idea of either Ben Johnson or Jim Harbaugh as HC. But my top pick is honestly Shane Waldron. His network is pretty insane when you look at it and I believe he played a pretty big role in the whole Geno development.
Honestly haven’t looked enough into availability of coordinators to give any type of opinion. Although definitely important, we’ve gotta start from the top and work our way down. I just want someone competent at the reins.
Why do you like Waldron? I get so frustrated watching that offense run up the middle on 2nd and Long for 1 yard every drive.
McVay coaching tree and the Geno development is what I really like. The Bears have proven time and time again that our qb development is one of the worst in the league. We need someone who has proven they can potentially fix that problem.
Are we sure Geno's development is that great? It kind of feels like he had one year of great success, but it hasn't sustained. His year is much worse in every way you can look at it.
Almost every qb is having a down year compared to last year. The game is starting to shift back towards the defensive side of the ball and it’s showing throughout a majority of qb play this year. Not going to say Geno has had a great year, but it doesn’t seem like many qbs are having a great year.
A rookie for the Texans is having a great year. We don’t need some experimental Seattle shit. We need a proven coach
Ew horrible take. Go over to the Seahawks sub they fuckin hate him.
The Bears will hire Dan Quinn, in a very Bears hire
Dan Quinn would be a great get.
His teams and units always perform.
Give me Dan Quinn all day over whatever the hell we have right now
I just think the McCaskey’s are more interested in a new stadium than the team. I think everyone will stay and Fields will be back next year. Harbaugh would be great but he will want control and they won’t give that up. Until Virginia dies and they have to sell the team because they can’t pay the taxes nothing changes. Build the value of the franchise, keep payroll down, acquire mid to late round picks, and then sell the team. Everyone one in the family is a billionaire.
It is so Chicago Bears to want a coach that has been out of the league for nearly a decade and marred in scandals lmfao.
With the way the in season firing of coaches for reasons unknown, has gone on Eberflus's watch, there's no way I'm trusting him to select more staff. That's just another reason he shouldn't be retained.
Name I haven’t seen thrown around yet: OC - Brian Hartline
Scenario 1. My DC of choice would be Ron Riviera. He adds a more aggressive approach to the Cover Two. For OC I’m bringing in Greg Roman. He’s proven he can take QB from point A to point B. The problem becomes can he take a QB further? If you’re giving Fields another year and you should if you’re bringing Flus back, that’s the guy.
Scenario 2. I have two minds on this. I KNOW that Harbaugh would make this team into winners right away. The question would be, does he want to do more than coach? The Bears finally seem to have the proper structure in their organization. Harbaugh might want to change all that. So if they go back to a more traditional coach, Waldron is probably the guy I’d go with. He’s worked for 3 great coaches, Carroll, McVay and Belichick. He would have a fairly seamless transition on offense as his is also based on the Shanahan/McVay model. This is the offense that Poles has been building up and there will be less tearing down. Riviera could still be the DC.
Hot take. Bill belichick Esit: as hc and gm
