40min ToP and +3 turnover and lose, which has apparently never happened in history, and the coach wants to say something about how we need to execute better?

fire these coaches. no team can play a perfect game and if that’s the requirement to win (otherwise players need to “execute better” wtf) than theyre entire vision of how wins happen is bunk

[–] RAG319@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just ping me when Eberflus is fired. Thanks.

[–] The_Box_muncher@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Two top 5 picks. MHJ and an edge or interior D lineman and baby im gonna nut.

[–] unnoticed77@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm no expert, but I thought that hit on Patrick that took him out for a bit was a missed penalty (blindside block, perhaps).

Goff looked like Aaron Rodgers in that 4th quarter gif

[–] homestyle28@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There's no denying losing that way blows, but going in, if you would have told me that the defense would look good for most of the game and JF1 would play well I would have taken it. I think this team is actually heading in the right direction. It's a young team, still short on talent in key positions, but competing with the division leaders.

But, fuck that loss stung.

[–] Diceroll42@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m still mad.

[–] IngvaldClash@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Things got a lot easier after I gave up all hope. I’m not sure how anyone can still be emotionally invested in this franchise.

The Bears are who we thought they were.

[–] Slimbopboogie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think the rest of the season should be used to evaluate if we keep Fields however after a game against a good lions team I think he showed promise. I think we should have had more than 1 TD but I still think he executed well.

[–] Zealousideal_Bass199@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ill be honest, i am very optimistic about the team. I feel like both the defense and offense are playing with much more cohesion now, and with Fields playing well we can be in it to win quite a few of the remaining games. Plus, I have a feeling that the team isn’t playing to the potential of their talent yet (due to coaching), so once they do we’ll be formidable. On top of that we’ll have 2 high picks next draft. If we utilize them well we can look at sustained success. This obviously depends on finding a good offensive minded head coach this offseason

Wasn't it the Bucs game in week 2 where there were complaints that they took the ball out of their playmakers hands and kept giving straight handoffs to backs trying to kill the clock instead of being aggressive?

Wasn't it the Broncos game in week 4 where we figured out we can't go into prevent defense and play safe with a decent lead?

[–] Upset_Researcher_143@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's what makes it so frustrating. This game is Groundhog Day all over again

[–] mrbucket08@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Unsure where you got that narrative for the Bucs game, that was the one where Fields' had some of his most egregious turn downs and sacks (including a TD) when the ball was in his hands.

The narrative of the Broncos game was horrendously awful situational playcalling by Getsy/Flus and bad ball security by Fields.

I swear to god if we have to go through another attempt by the coach and GM to save their jobs by drafting a QB, I'm gonna lose it. There's no way this staff should be making decisions for the future of the Bears

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

We are getting to a reality where we are going to have to choose between a QB and MHJ with our first pick.

Fields looked good versus a very good Lions team.

He was banged up still, and still gave us more than a chance. That is what we want to see.

Should we have won, yes.

On to the next one, vikings are just as beatable

[–] sfbgamin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Your premier edge rusher had less snaps than he did against the Panthers. This is actually coaching malpractice

[–] vamsi93@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Someone please convince me otherwise, but the last 4 minutes didn’t just seem like a typical bears collapse… it almost seemed calculated by our very own coaching staff.

They weren’t “playing not to lose” or whatever; I genuinely think they were playing to lose the last 4 minutes

[–] DillyDillySzn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Fields was fine

I’m still of the opinion that the Bears need to find a solution at the QB position rather than “well he wasn’t the problem”, 6 more games. That performance yesterday is the bare minimum from here on out imo to even think about keeping him

Coaches need to go like now

Tyrique arrival game

Jaylon proving he ain’t a franchise corner game

DJ Moore gud

RBs gud

Centers bad

Going back to Jaylon

If he wants to be paid like he’s rumored to be, an absolute game breaker, and making statements like how “it wouldn’t sit right with me if Sweat got paid first” he better start playing like a game breaker

[–] WhatTheDuck21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I spent several hours yesterday with other family members waiting for the funeral home to show up to collect my uncle's body after he died Saturday night. At one point my other uncle asked if we wanted to watch the game. I told him nobody wanted to watch two tragedies today.

[–] Acceptable-Yak7968@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Any respectable organization would have fired their coach after committing the crime against football that we all witnessed yesterday.

[–] Gentlesadboy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Trying to think about why that one stung so much. I think it would have been such a promising sign to go into Detroit and just kick their asses. Because that’s what happened until the last 4 minutes. To just let the bottom fall out after how they played the rest of the game, was such a gut punch.

[–] MiddleNameIsJoe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bad team is bad. The defense will never be able to stop a decent QB when it counts, the offense will never be able to be counted on in key situations

This team is starting to reflect poles' vision, it's just that poles' vision isn't very good

[–] Broshan248@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (6 children)

If Justin plays like he did yesterday consistently down the stretch, would that be enough to earn the starting job next year?

As I said before Eberflus couldn’t win a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors if he played it in a mirror.

[–] devadander23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don’t know why everyone is so upset. The bears beat the shit out of the lions, fields looked really good, and the bears got an L which helps draft positioning. Plus Carolina lost while the giants won. It was a great day for the bears.

It’s funny to me the amount of Lions “fans” that were weirdly ready to throw in the towel on their season as if being 7-3 would’ve been such a bad thing. They’re a strange lot, that fan base.

[–] Makes_U_Mad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

First of all, I called it.

Second, I stand by my comment from the post game thread.

Third, I watch the 670 post game discussion this morning and was struck by two recurring themes:

  1. This team has a loser's mentality. They literally do not know how to win a football game. That is a coaching issue.

  2. How in the flying fucking ORANGE FUCK are you gonna talk shit, allllll goddamn week, about "We are evaluating Fields for the next five games" then TAKE THE FUCKING BALL out of his hands on the second to last drive of the game. HOW. It's crunch time, you have put ALL this PUBLIC FUCKING PRESSURE on the QB (who, in his return game, has NAILED IT. Best he's played all year, fight me), and then YOU TAKE THE BALL AWAY FROM HIM WHEN THE GAME IS ON THE LINE. Literally talking out of their ass. Poles, Flutz and Getzy are the three goddamn stooges, except not fucking funny. Flutz could fuck up a wet fucking dream Getsy would be standing there next to him with a stupid fucking look on his face. Poles has stupid on him by goddamn proximity. Clowns, all of them. Nothing but stupid fucking wigs and big stupid fucking shoes. Flutz and Getzy know they ain't here next year, and neither of them give a single goddamn fuck about the rest of this season, and Fields have to deal with them TANKING HIS FUCKING CAREER, after THEY PUBLICLY PRESSURED HIM ON HIS PERFORMANCE. I hope that poor kids goes full Cutler. Smoking on the sideline and just being a general dickhead ALL the time. I wouldn't blame him one damn bit.

Finally. I watched a replay this morning. For 3.5 quarters, the offensive looked NFL average. Yeah. I would even say some hints of above average. That TD pass to CJ was textbook, the o line, Fields, the whole package. It was nice. The defense looked pretty good, but I think that's more a function of the Lions playing like ass and coughing it up 4 times (and we still lost, FUCK). But for 3.5 quarters, the team looked like an average NFL team. It really says something that AVERAGE had me so fucking giddy.

In conclusion: FUCK! Fucking fuckers fucked a fucking FUUUUUUUCK!

[–] Disco_Ninjas_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think our defense had an all-time worst ratio of time played vs points given up.

[–] middleimpact445@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My amateur takes:

Coaching:

Flus and Getsy need to be done at the end of the year at minimum. That was literally a historically bad loss. I am so sick of those two coaching scared. If you are the 3-7 Bears against the 7-2 Lions, you don't run the ball on third and long when in field goal range. You don't play for field goals when you have the opportunity to step on their throat. You don't run the ball up the gut twice when you're trying to chew clock and then leave it all up to a 3rd and long to keep the drive going.

Defense:

I think it was more bad Goff play rather than good defensive play yesterday. All of his interceptions just went straight to our guys and they were all wtf moments (maybe barring the Stevenson interception where they bumped LaPorta off of his route).

Not surprised that the offense actually did well when the defense wasn't handing them the ball with sucky field position every time.

Fields:

Everyone needs to take a deep breath. This was game 1 of a 7 game prove-it stretch. Everyone wants to make a decision with Fields now, even though we all agreed it was going to take all 7 games to prove it. This game was a step in the right direction. He passed the test yesterday imo. It wasn't an A+ by any means, but he passed.

Everyone wants to critique his accuracy now. His (deep) accuracy was never really a concern for us, but yesterday everyone was moaning and groaning about his deep ball overthrows. It was always his decision making that we didn't like. I liked what I saw yesterday with regards to his decisions. No interceptions but still wasn't afraid to take shots. I truly believe those throws will start to connect down the stretch once he gains some rhythm after the injury.

It's growing more apparent that pass yards are not the correct stat by which to critique Fields. With the state of the Bears' run game, the offense isn't going to be a gun-slinging-first type of offense. I think we need to pay attention to yards per completion, completion percentage, and turnovers.

Tyler Scott screwed Fields yesterday. Anyone with working eyes can see that Fields put that ball where it needed to be, and Scott stutter stepped. The narrative of Fields would probably be completely different today if he caught that.

Not sure wtf happened with Wright on that last play (I think he was playing hurt?), but it was a terrible time for Fields to not feel the pressure after doing pretty well with that all game. Regardless, Fields was put into a bad situation in the end once again.

One of the only enticing arguments for drafting a new qb right now for me is resetting the contract clock.

[–] Drevano@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We were in the red zone, 4th and 1. Flus decides to kick a field goal, I mean ffs why not try a fake tush push. You were already 3-7 you’ve got nothing to lose…

[–] asilverman1025@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Every day Eberfuck and to a degree Getsy remain here is an insult to fans. Shows this organization holds no accountability to anyone. I know we don’t fire coaches midseason, but Eberfuck and Getsy definitely deserve to break that trend. Not once, but twice that type of loss has happened just this year. Haven’t won a divisional game under them. Haven’t beat a real team under them. I don’t care if our TEs coach and our LBs coach have to take over as OC/DC. Fire Getsy and Eberfuck and let interims run the team for the rest of the season. At worst, it would be as bad as it is now.

[–] Chemical_Astronaut_9@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

DJ Moore.

That's what talent looks like.

Do you think we have that in other positions?

I don't.

My vote is for two OL in the draft, Fields has proved he can ball if he has protection

[–] WarnedEntry@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bears need a new head coach to come in and bring his own coordinators and coaches with him. Total revamp of the coaching staff. Justin Fields is the guy. The coaches suck major ass.

[–] Safe-Register-3479@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How is Justin going to prove his the guy with this coaching staff?

[–] Firm_Earth_5698@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Flus is determined to own all the negative records before he’s shitcanned.
