Yet they’re 9 and 1. Hurts has weapons, an OLine, and a defense. No one is ever clamoring for Philly to draft a QB.

He’s 15/9 TD/INT (has 9 rushing TDs but many are the tush push) with 4 fumbles.

Please review last years start line forHurts. Once Fields has a season like Hurts season last year, then I’ll start believing. Fields hasn’t shown any ability to take over a game through the air like a franchise QB should.

[–] OldmanLister@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Naw bro, he fucking won.

Get out of here with your dumbass meatball bullshit.

[–] Harambefan69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah but he also won

[–] Tablebob61@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thing is hurts has a pretty good resume up to this point. So it's seen a lot different then a guy who isn't proven yet but has a bad game.

[–] hippohopper78@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean, Hurts also played bad? Acting like eviscerating bad QB play is somehow wrong is funny. Just goes to show how much winning covers it up.

[–] MJSB1994@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Philly fans weren't happy with his performance. Just saying.

[–] FattyLumps@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is so dumb. Justin Fields actually already faced this same defense in good weather and couldn’t even crack 100 yards. He’s been bad for years while Hurts has been productive and extremely successful. Hurts’ down games are better than Fields’ career averages.

[–] DirkGman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Usually you get some leeway when your team goes to the Super Bowl and is 9-1

[–] Pisthetairos@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

OP must not know that Justin Fields and the Bears actually played the actual Kansas City Chiefs this year.

So we don't have to theorize about his performance versus the Chiefs. Or the outcome.

[–] NOLASLAW@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is the dumbest take and this sub loves nothing more than making posts about its own opinions

[–] GroktheDestroyer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hm good point. I only wish we had also played the Chiefs this season so we could compare how those two played against the same stout defense to show which one is a proven QB, and which is the bust. But alas!

[–] gaius_jerkoffus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This team (or maybe just this sub, I never run into actual people like this) has way too many stans. If Justin Fields’ production is good enough for you, you’re doing this wrong. He seems like a nice guy, but I want a better QB for the team I root for. Not that difficult! Doesn’t mean the coaching staff shouldn’t also be fired or that the last game was Fields’ fault. Just aim higher. He’s worse than Mitch. And nobody here thinks Mitch was the guy right?

[–] Chicago_Stringerbell@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Justin Fields would put up crazy numbers on the Eagles.

[–] sparkles1887@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hurts had a bad game, Fields has had a bad career

[–] InsanelyRude@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Great point! Quick question: when the surgeons removed the part of your brain responsible for critical thinking, did they sew you back up, or do you just have a gaping hole in your skull?

[–] BaconScentedSoap@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That’s because that’s an average night for Fields while a rare poor performance for Hurts my god this sub would try to make an argument how Fields is as good as Manning as long as their is a stat for them to skew

[–] Dinkinflikuh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I do think it's really sad how this fan base has turned on him. It's kinda fucked up IMO.

[–] mywifemademedothis2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So what you’re saying is that Fields needs an elite roster around him to win games. Something the Bears are nowhere near having. Incredible take.

[–] adamjokes15@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That’s also not his averages so that isn’t honest either.

This is football not politics. Framing arguments so you feel correct is weird.

[–] lemonsracer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Idk if you've ever been in any Eagles subreddit game threads, but they all bitch about Jalen Hurts and their coaching staff just like we do every week. Lol

[–] McWhiteFolk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't really care I call it how I see it if you play like ass then you deserve to be called out. When Justin Fields has looked like dog shit I say if you don't want to get fired play better but Lions game was on the coaching staff. They gameplan was decent until they tried to play safe and got dog walked. Not to mention bonehead moves by the defense. If Justin can consistently at least perform well then the Bears should look at weapons to bring in like Marvin Harrison jr, Joe Alt, or Dallas Turner.

Philadelphia obviously needs to trade up to #1 and draft a QB. /s

[–] nox_nrb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a bad take

[–] letseditthesadparts@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In a universe where Chicago was Super Bowl favorites. No one would have an issue with this stat line for fields. In reality where he has been great, avg, and bad. Yes people would take issue with it I guess.

[–] trentreynolds@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Half of this sub would use that line to prove Justin Fields is a future MVP candidate.

[–] acrossthecurve@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

GMAFB. This is difference between being 9-1 and reigning NFC champs and 3-7 with the worst 2 season record.

[–] Responsible-Ant-818@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hold nothing against fields at all. He has shown he can play great against some of the most elite defenses using both his legs and his arm. I love fields. I don't think he's the best or near the best, but he is good and I would like him to stay next year, as long as Getsy is gone. Our issue lies with Coaching (specifically Getsy) not necessarily player personnel.

[–] SwissyVictory@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Every QB ever has bad games. The question is how often do they have good and bad games. Here are each of their stats over this and last season,

Stat Fields Hurts
Starts 21 25
Under 150 yards 8 0
Under 200 yards 15 7
Over 250+ yards 3 11
Over 300 yards 1 7
1 or less total TD 8 4
3+ total TDs 5 11
0 INTs 8 14
2+ INTs 3 3
1 or less Sacks 0 5
5+ Sacks 6 1

Hurts tends to be having double the good games, and half the bad games.

Two more comments,

  • Hurts had 1 interception this game, not 2
  • If tush push TDs are not impressive, why dosen't Fields have more? Why dosen't any QB have more?
[–] jphoc@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fields has had a better year than Lawrence and Hurts. Fields is currently the best performing qb from the 2021 class.
