Boycott US

Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

When someone says they're going to try to kill you, believe them.

"Yes! Culture war! That's the priority right now! Look at all those made up enemies we need to fight! Nobody pay attention to the widespread corruption, collapsing standards of living, disastrous foreign policy, open treason with the enemy, stupid wars being declared for no good reason, dismantlement of checks and balances, blatantly illegal actions, complete disregard for the constitution, widespread anti-democratic practices, borderline revolting military, oh yeah and the Epstein files"

[–] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 32 points 6 days ago (8 children)

It's what his base responds to. He's going to promise the worst of things that appeal to the worst parts of his supporting base to save the midterms.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago (3 children)

FOX News ruined the country.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Americans ruined the country.

[–] WasabiWabbit@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

It’s like the English and the Scot’s. Or the Irish and the Scot’s. Or Scot and other Scot’s. They ruined Scotland!!!!

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 days ago

Hey remember Murdoch's Australian. That hillbilly Island deserves a little bit of the blame.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 16 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You can connect those dots back a little further, if you try.

"Okay smart guy, so Nixon?"

Yes, but...

"Ah, you're about to mention the southern strategy."

Which happened because?

"Alright, but it's pretty tenuous to attribute the modern rise of fascism to failed reconstruction!"

I wasn't. I was going to attribute it to the existence of slavery in America. The seeds of this destruction were already planted at the beginning.

(Sorry for this writing style, it started as a joke and I couldn't make it properly funny while also making my point.)

The consequences of Fox News have been known for decades, still, nothing changes.

I'm sure that all those people who sat out the last election will come out and vote in large numbers this time, right?

RIGHT!?

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The Republicans think so. So, they have people on social media — I've even seen them on Lemmy — trying to convince everyone that the Democrats are no better, so they may as well stay home.

Also, more Americans sit out midterms anyway, when the presidency isn't up for a vote, but the Republicans are extra worried this year and have been out in force.

Waste their money.

Sounds like Donald is proposing The Final Solution.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 60 points 6 days ago

Trans people should end Trump and the GOP. Everyone else should help.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 66 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Defend your families against this horrible person.

[–] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 21 points 6 days ago

Talk to your families about taking this horrible person serious.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 52 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Wow ok

So like

I feel like someone needs to bait him into saying the words “final solution”, just so it’s less ambiguous for the 5-10% of voters who are still somehow ambivalent about how all of this is unfolding.

But at the same time, even if it he did say it, I genuinely don’t have a ton of faith that the fucking dipshits would even acknowledge it

[–] thebeardedpotato@lemmy.world 23 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Most of the US won’t even understand the significance of him saying “final solution.”

This isn’t me being a pessimist and cynical, I have just met many people over the past few years who are woefully ignorant of basic history :(

I spoke to someone who somehow confused the American Revolution and the Civil War

This is Trump saying that your vote actually does matter. Act accordingly, don't fall for the useful idiots on here telling you otherwise.

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 5 points 5 days ago

Tankies love spreading misinformation.

This will be remembered as Trump's prophecy, and historians will discuss why it wasn't taken seriously before a big bad thing happened.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago

Thank you to all the shitbrains that stood by and did nothing while the regressives boasted about a trans genocide.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 36 points 6 days ago (4 children)

I'm anti-guns, but i think it is time for trans people to arm up.

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 19 points 6 days ago (1 children)

There’s conservative trans people who thought voting for Trump would “secure their access to guns”

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 24 points 6 days ago (5 children)

conservative... trans.....? wow. I don't even.

[–] Coldcell@sh.itjust.works 17 points 6 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

You can find baseless stupidity and hatred in all walks of life.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 6 points 6 days ago (5 children)

walks*

but yes, I have to agree.

It's like Confederate blacks. Stupid people are everywhere.

[–] treesapx@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Whenever you're confused about something like this just remember that there are legitimate, unironic Nazi furries.

It’s like 10% of the us trans community.

Conservatives are stupid. Some are extra stupid.

I cant wait for this orange headed fuck to die... The parties are going to be wild!

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago

You'll be able to simply walk into any bar and say "I'm not drunk yet" for free rounds.

[–] MunkyNutts@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

So not a fascist, but has a Final Solution for those out-groups.

[–] TerdFerguson@lemmy.ca 18 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

He is pandering to his Christo-fascist base.

And yeah, he seems to prioritize that because it encompasses WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE... and those people are stupid af and programmed to follow their designated authority, unfortunately.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 28 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Nation's burning, falling apart, starving...

"I got the solution!"

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

It better be a final one!

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's a big turnaround from the promise that he'd be the best LGBT president ever.

[–] DarkDecay@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Interest payments are at a trillion a year on the country's debt. Better worry about how many genders there are.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago

That's exactly why this is a favorite political issue now.

Abortion has also been very reliable for decades.

These are "small ticket" issues that aren't financially lucrative, and they'd rather have this argument than discussion of our military invasions, the FED, wages, universal healthcare, and other "big ticket" issues.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 5 days ago

Threatening more people I love. Fucker.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

He does seem dedicated to ending trans people in the only way possible …human extinction

[–] Mk23simp@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 6 days ago

Meanwhile, if Trump gets what he deserves, transgender people will finish. :3

[–] CanadianMade@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

Just leave them alone, they’re not harming anyone.

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

First they came for the trans and I did nothing. Then they came for Bessent…

Does Bessent, the “genius” investor that took his startup money from Soros, a “dumocrat” not realize that the MAGA cult he claims to love and support think he is an abomination?

Hopefully he finds out soon, but he’s a piece of shit so I don’t mind if he dies, painfully.

[–] RivverRavven@beehaw.org 2 points 4 days ago

In the words of the Spartans: "If."

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Toss it onto the pile of lies and threats that Trump has made since being returned to power.

[–] DillDough@lemmy.zip 12 points 5 days ago

Everything from the heritage foundation and project 2025 actually happens though, and forceful eradication of trans people is a major part of both the HF and P2025 specifically.
