"We drink the combined milk! That's 62% more milk per milk!"

  • Cave Johnson (probably)

Does the Milk comes in brick?

"It comes in a solid 50lb semi hydrated slab! You cut yourself off a hunk and mix it into the powdered milk/liquid milk milk so you can get absolutely the most milked milk out of your milk that man has ever milked! And if that's not enough we've got a whole division dedicated to milking milk from animals no one has ever milked before! (What!? No, it's not cheese... Yes, I know cheese is made from milk solids! No. It's not cheese damn it! It's chemically diverse from cheese... Because I looked at the lab results that's how! Cheese doesn't move on it's own!)" - also probably Cave Johnson

There is a drinking chocolate powder in the UK called "Galaxy". Which is intended to be dissolved in hot water instead of milk, therefore it contains milk powder. But if you mix it into hot milk, it is really amazing!

I had a roommate that loved milk so much, they would snort powdered milk regularly in the bathroom.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 25 points 4 days ago

What’s the mpm rating on this milk?

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 20 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Actually this is really common.

In areas with unreliable power, powdered milk is much more common. People often do mix it super thick and spread it on bread.

Obviously not a balanced diet but you could do a lot worse for a cheap meal.

[–] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 25 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You are so thick I could spread you on bread.

[–] TheRealKuni@piefed.social 13 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Your mom is so thick I spread her on bread last night.

[–] Test_Tickles@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Well, she was cremated, so it is entirely possible.

A glass of 200% milk a day keeps the bone-itis at bay

they must be stopped before it's too late! having bones that strong is possibly a threat to society as we know it

Powdered milk is a miracle wasted on the poor, the fact that no company has jumped on "freeze dried milkshakes" that you just add water to shows that America has lost its entrepreneurial spirit.

[–] LordKitsuna@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Freeze drying doesn't tend to work all that great on fats which whole milk has a lot of. Not tonsay it can't be done but its generally more effort than its worth for the result

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 3 points 4 days ago

It's already like drinking heavy cream how do people handle so much fat?

[–] reptar@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Didn't know what milk+milk is like but milk isn't like heavy cream.

I mean, it is cause they are both dairy but the difference is pretty significant.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago

That's how they make industrial milkshake extra thick and creamy, together with buttermilk powder

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Just drink whole milk and get it over with

[–] Fluke@feddit.uk 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I do.

Also, random shower thought... since they charge the same for whole milk as they do for semi or fully skimmed, why aren't people just buying whole milk and watering it down?

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I mean skim has a lower fat content, presumably watering down whole milk will also dilute the non-fat parts of the milk like proteins, vitamins, and minerals - affecting the taste and meaning you get less of those things vs buying the same post-dilution quantity of skim milk.

[–] Fluke@feddit.uk 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

They don't actually skim milk anymore. They haven't for years. They literally dilute milk with water at some part of the homogenisation process IIRC. Gonna have to go look it up now... 😂

Edit: TIL, only some places do it that way. It is generally centrifugally separated and then fortified with fat soluble Vitamins removed during the process.

Fair 'nuff. 💛

In the spirit of this sub, he probably also could put more movement in his bowel movements.

[–] Zephyr@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

Have done this, it's good. Excessive but good.

[–] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Isn't that what they do? They skim all the milk and then put the fat in to various concentration?
