Where are the Deans?

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Sauce where?

Looks like one you get on events / mountain restaurants around here (Switzera). The tablet matches the later.

The main horror is not that it's closed, but that it is ketchup.

[–] vogi@piefed.social 1 points 2 hours ago

Might be the reason its closed!

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Hey, ketchup/catsup, (choose your spelling - we don't discriminate), has it's place. It's fine for the sick, old and infirm or small children with weaker constitutions. But anyone purporting to be an adult, a form of mustard is the only choice.

And yes, there are other sauces to be used as called for in the moment.

No ketchup. Only mustard! Get a hold of your ovaries and man up!

[–] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Mustard on French fries??? I love mustard but that's probably the last thing I'd put on fries... I'd rather just eat them with nothing 🤢🤢🤢🤮

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Try a nice German mustard or a Dijon. Or mix a bit of good horseradish in with it. There is a lot more to mustard than plain yellow mustard, (which is great on hotdogs with relish).

[–] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Oh I know different mustards! I've even visited the National Mustard Museum in Middleton Wisconsin! I'll put mustard on just about anything but it still sounds gross on fries...

[–] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I have 3 different spicy mustards in my fridge right now so I will try them on some fries later today but I don't think it's going to be very good...

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Not with that attitude they won't be.

Long ketchup

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

That's the biggest ketchup packet I've ever seen,.. Looks good...

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 68 points 2 days ago (8 children)

That's the longest ketchup packet I've ever seen.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago

That's what she said

[–] vogi@piefed.social 40 points 2 days ago

Great, now you made it all self-conscious :(

It only has those strange European looking units on the top of it. Despite living in a few European countries for awhile I can't say I recall seeing a ketchup packet, but yes typically the ones in US at least are shorter

Okay, what is spirit vinegar? Milked ghost juice?

Also does "contains Celery" mean that there's sodium nitrate?

[–] nyctre@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Spirit as in alcohol, I think.

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

I know, I was just making a shit joke. The whole thing was written oddly.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

yes celery ingredient would including the celery salt=aka nitrates, companies like to obfuscate the preservative by using another source of nitrates.

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I kinda figured, I've never seen it written that way before.

The only reason to close the sauce like this is if you’re trying to hide something. What are they doing in there that they don’t want us to see? This is why I don’t use closed sauce servings, anything could be in there and I would have no idea, FOSS (fragrant open sauce servings) are much more ethical and natural to human nature

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Ugh, it’s so overly technical and bloated. Even the package size is non-standard.

[–] SatansDaughter@quokk.au 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm gonna install Linux on my ketchup packet

Wait, how do you have 148g of tomatoes for every 100g of sauce?

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's the weight of the tomato that died to make this sauce. Despite improvements in efficiency, the entire tomato corpse cannot be used int the sauce.

[–] xavier666@lemmy.umucat.day 2 points 1 day ago

So I'm getting more tomato wrt a unit of an alive tomato?

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ketchup is reduced tomato and sugar. Big part of a tomato is water that boils off.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

So wouldn't you weigh the tomatoes after they have been boiled down?

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago

Things like combucha also have the added sugar listed in their ingredients, but it has no sugar since that was fermented in the process of making it. This is not something rare.

[–] bibbasa@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatsup

[–] dbtng@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Ketchup sucks. And they spell it funny.

I'd like to know more about that wooden surface upon which the ketchup is resting. Is it a table, coffee table, chair, or toilet seat? Was the ring formed by a cup, a bowl, a glass, a mug, or a small bucket? What was held inside the object that created the ring? Where did you purchase this wooden panel? Where was it grown? How old was the tree prior to being harvested for lumber?

[–] vogi@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thank you so much for being interested in the wooden surface! It is a table, though it could also very well be a coffee table because I the original wooden panel was to long for the dining table i bought it for so I sawed the rest off and made a coffee table by upgrading an old IKEA LACK table I had laying around. However this picture is taken on the dining table . As for the ring I sadly do not remember the exact point in time it happened but I strongly suspect that it was coffee inside of mug which I regularly drink, in the morning, on that table. Regarding the used wood I am afraid I must disappoint you once more as my knowledge on it lacking. I have bought it in a local DIY shop in Germany so the chances are pretty high it was harvested in that area, however I guess you cannot be too sure about that nowadays. And as it not one solid piece of wood rather glued together I unable to count the age prior to harvest. Sorry about that. Im feeling a bit ashamed I do not know as much about the wood I dine on everyday, but if you have any further questions im happy to help.

This has proven indubitably informative, danke
