No... Theyre not. For fucks sake just admit hes a bust a move on. Why have people developed such a weird parasocial relationship with this player?
Chicago Bears
If you’re feeling dumb, just remember there are people who believe a 3rd coaching staff is the answer to fixing Justin Fields.
This is a bad article with no depth of analysis. And that’s coming from a person who doesn’t want to take a QB and wants to trade down.
This is exhausting, Fields is clearly not the guy. Anyone that thinks differently hasn’t been watching the last few years. Coaching is obviously also a major problem, but fields has not developed to the level that a 3rd year guy needs to have developed. Look at what CJ Stroud has done with the Texans and tell me QB isn’t a problem.
Completely disagree. You have to keep taking swings for a truly, franchise-altering QB prospect. Is that Williams? Is that Maye? Only time can tell, but you're not going to get that by being risk-averse and sticking with Fields either - his body of work has been consistently below average as a passer. That's all he's capable of and we've seen enough in three years to make that determination.
Rotation. Injuries. A strong line and a great defense win
I wish they would fire getsy and see what happens the last 5 games

Obviously. Also fire getsy/ flus
I’m new to football but the whiplash from week to week of JF1 is the future to JF1 is terrible. I don’t know what’s going on, is this normal
A lot of people are debating whether Fields is the problem or the coaches are the problem.
We very well might have 2 problems.
I love Fields and want him to succeed more than anything. But if you end up with the 1st pick it would be a sin to not take Williams. It just opens up more possibilities for us and resets the QB pay clock
That in and of itself isn’t really a knock on Fields. He would have to play really good for that to be not true. I think he’s been decent but not good enough
Finally, someone looking outside the box. Why isn't the fanbase looking at data not directly in front of them? People were arguing between Fields and Bagent. I'd argue for neither. People are talking about getting rid of the GM. I think the whole fucking box needs to go - owners included. Get that old hag out of ownership. It's embarrassing at this point.
If we have number one overall and we are firing our staff, there’s no doubt I would rather start with a fresh QB and fresh coaching staff. Let the coach and OC evaluate the pre draft talent along with the GM and FO staff. Let them all go get their guy.
If they fail at that with two QBs that are supposedly the best since Burrow and Lawrence, then there’s no hope for this POS franchise until the McCaskeys sell.
TIL that some writers at bleacher report as dumb as half this sub
Amen
The easier thing to do doesn’t mean better…
Cut my life into pieces
I’m in the Justin Fields camp but I seriously might take some time off this sub to clear my head. The brain dead hoards of “Stroud would have made us a playoff team” fools are hurting my head.
Right behind you. The level-headed opinions are getting drowned out by the toxicity from both sides. I trust my own eyes after games, but they tend to turn when I start reading comments, so I'm taking a break.
In addition, if we take CJ Stroud, we don’t have DJ Moore and our wide receivers are dog shit.
There better building with a rookie because Fields will be getting paid soon.
I think the most rational take is keep all options open and see where things are at week 18.
I know we have a roughly ~45% for the first pick. But we have a higher percentage we don’t. If we aren’t picking 1 or 2, drafting a QB is basically off the table.
I know this sub hates Eberflus, fine I get it, but be careful what you wish for. It’s estimated almost a third of NFL teams might be looking for new head coaches. Last year there were five head coaching changes. It’s estimated there will be between 7-13 this year. If as a sub we hate over paying for free agents - imagine over paying for a hot OC with no prior coaching experience.
Coach salary doesn't come out of the cap. That's why no one cares how much they get paid.
We have a 71% chance at the 1st overall, AFAIK.
who care about overpaying a coach? it's not my money and doesn't affect the cap. roll up the Brinks truck
This article has it backwards. The Bears threw a million screens because they don't trust Fields to actually throw the ball down the field. Eberflus is desperately trying to save his job and has decided that playing ultra conservative is the way to do so. Maybe that's wrong but it doesn't exactly look great for Fields.
The Bears threw a million screens because they don't trust Fields to actually throw the ball down the field... how does this unsubstantiated opinion keep popping up?
because they don't trust Fields to actually throw the ball down the field
Then they're morons, this is one of the undeniably good parts of JF1's game lol.
This point is so dumb. If you're trying to save your job as a coach, the number one thing you should never do is call a shit game. You call well designed plays and if the QB can't make them then you can make the case that you need a new QB.
Shit play calling makes you look like the problem and you're just tossing the QB under the bus to save your own neck.
And you should also make damn sure the rest of the team isn't making dumb mental errors constantly by being at the bottom of the league in penalties. You should make sure the rest of the team is living up to their potential.
No one is being put in a place to succeed by calling 17 screen passes a game.
After seeing Bagent perform better in this offense I don't know how anyone can advocate for Fields with a straight face.
Did he though?
I don’t even this we have to build for him.
Passing on Caleb or Maye doesn’t mean you can’t draft another QB this year or next. Also have the ability to look for a vet too.
I like how the narrative he's presenting is that Fields needs a serious down field threat in order to properly evaluate him.
Which is exactly the same narrative as last year prior to getting DJ Moore.
Well, DJ is on pace for 1400+ yards, which would put him top 3 all-time single season receivers for Bears. I wonder where he'd be if we had a competent OC? My personal opinion is we have a very good QB. Build an o-line around him, get a great HC/OC combination and use your draft/cap capital elsewhere. Not a hot take, just an opinion.
...and they threw 16 designed passes behind the line of scrimmage. Can't use a down field threat if you don't design plays for him to get down field.
Mooney should be that threat. I’m not sure if it’s him or Fields but that’s the missing link.
I would like to see Fields with a competent OC. He's had Nagy and Getsy so far. Maybe they are calling plays that suits Fields better but I doubt it.
Yes. Trade number one again. Draft defense early. Get a center and a right guard.
Let’s re-phrase this: “The Bears are Better off Building around Lamar Jackson’s future backup”
No way, he's headed to Atlanta.
If you sign him to an exceptionally team friendly long term contract then agree
