Am I dyslexic or is the joke unclear?

The picture is from old footage of a nuclear bomb test. The long shadow is cast by the flash of the explosion and this is right before the shockwave hits and levels the house.

Is this mandatory information? It seems like many comments here know what's up.

This footage gets regularly played in documentaries and Youtube videos when nuclear weapons are discussed, so many people are familiar with it.

I wouldn't say mandatory, but because of the cold war it's something gen x and y knows about, and have had much contact with.

Idk, how hard can it be to just watch a house?

Easy, I'm gonna bring out my lounge chair & work on my tan. Eh, I forgot my sunglasses, oh well.

That house looks like it's on the moon

[–] zagaberoo@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

And interestingly the moon's surface is about the color of asphalt, it's just hyperilluminated to look white just like here.

It’s a still from an old video of nuclear weapons test footage. The shadow behind the house and the super white glare means a nuclear bomb has just detonated very near by, and the shockwave is coming to vaporize the house in the picture.

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 8 points 1 year ago

Oh, that makes way more sense. I thought it was a house on the moon.

Thank you!!
