Well, to be fair, lead is very slow-killing, so it's hard to find out it's toxic. Even modern societies used lead in children's toys until recently.

PFAS are probably worse. Microplastics are relatively inert. Ofc we have other issues like arsenic in rice.
Also, while it was not the best idea to use lead for the pipes, their water was also very hard and all those pipes quickly started building up limestone on the inside, thus costing the pipes and preventing much lead from getting into the water. So the kind of got lucky with that.

Yea they probably bullshitting. It was probably bacteria or some stupid shit. They never once said that it’s sentient, idk if they even said it wasn’t from Earth. Even if if was, I’m picky. This is probably my dumbest take, but if there was irrefutable proof that aliens existed and it was just a bacteria that doesn’t do anything, I’d say that doesn’t count. Like I bet 99% of scientists would identify it as an alien, but like c’mon now I wanna see a real alien not some lame shit. It’s gotta have like 2 sets of breasts or like 6 dicks or a weird number of fingers or eyes or something. And Chapo made a good point: why do these “Aliens” only make contact w the USA? Sounds like lies to me, but they were under oath so they can’t be lying (😊lol)
