Ive got thousands of hours in POE1 but stopped playing a couple years ago because it started to feel like a cluttered mess. There were so many league mechanics vying for your attention and interrupting the flow of the game it just became tiresome. I hope POE2 feels more cohesive without all the fluff of 50 different leagues. The trailers definitely got me jonesing to play again though.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Absolutely love the game and tend to get a character to maps every second league or so but holy moly does the amount of league mechanics get rough. I feel like I'm watching 3 hours of YouTube tutorials every league to remind me how to do everything.
Me too, except I guess I don't play it all anymore. I remember the early leagues felt really fresh and interesting, but somewhere along the line the complexity creep became too much for me to keep up with. I also felt like incorporating so many past mechanics into the base game made new league mechanics feel less special and important since they eventually just blended into the already existing soup of sub-systems.
I hope PoE 2 can be a fresh start and a blank slate. GGG have many good ideas, so I'm hopeful.
I wouldn't even mind that if the end result of engaging with all those systems was something more satisfying than just completely nullifying the combat, the part that's supposed to be the core of the game. Why even have different types of enemies if as soon as your build gets up and running they're going to die before they're even on screen, let alone being able to attack?

The gameplay looks incredibly slow and very similar to current ruthless league. I say this after watching Mathil play through a bit last night
This is the intent, and that’s a good thing.
The slow gameplay is an issue for me too. Chris has been trying to slow the gameplay down for a while now (probably in preparation for this), and it's only pissing people off more and more.
There also needs to be a better approach to crafting in PoE2. Learning the ins and outs of crafting in PoE is fucking daunting. I'm an adult with responsibilities. Nobody has time for learning that, or time for grinding that much currency...
I saw purchases carry forward which is nice as I have a few stashes on file that I got somewhat recently.
I always wanted to get into the original game, but the excessive monetization ruined the experience for me.
Hopefully they tone it down a bit for this release. I don’t want to walk into the first safe area only to be bombarded with microtransactions like I’m browsing the internet without an adblocker.
I found it reasonable, aside from the stash space prices. I spent a lot of time on it and only dropped 5-10.
Excessive monetization to me is genshin impact
It won't be toned down, because they're sharing purchases between PoE1 and PoE2 so people don't lose their purchases.
All of that MTX people wear will exist on Day 1 of PoE2.
Lately they've also been rewarding full armor sets for league challenges too which is nice. There has been 3 full sets in the last 4 leagues.

I’ll probably wait for the PS5 release to play it. I’m assuming there’s going to be one. I had zero faith PoE1 would work on console but it was a very cool time.
