I think Nazis were respected members of society in the US before the war. And the theory goes US joined against Germany because they feared a takeover from within otherwise.
We joined wwII because of pearl harbor against the Japanese, the Nazis declared war on us after that.
I could be wrong though
Joined th eactual shooting war, yes, but Lend-Lease was already happening by then.
