It would be great if the medical system had a way to see trends in data, if heading toward metabolic issues, chronic inflammation, before diabetes, types 2 and 3! Ahh, but fasting insulin and crp tests are cheap, don't make much money for the system to prevent issues early, with lifestyle changes and not need treatments!

"Insulin resistance develops 10–20 years before fasting glucose or HbA1c cross into the prediabetic range. During that window, the pancreas compensates by pumping out progressively more insulin to keep glucose "normal", which is what those markers capture.

HOMA-IR is the primary equation used to assess insulin resistance, calculated as (Fasting Insulin × Fasting Glucose) / 405, with values >2.0 indicate significant resistance and >2.9 metabolic syndrome. Triglyceride/HDL ratio is another marker for insulin resistance, with a target of <1.0 and high-risk values exceeding 3.0.

Fasting insulin levels are independently associated with high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), a marker of systemic inflammation; higher fasting insulin predicts elevated CRP.

A nasty mechanism, the enzyme IDE (insulin-degrading enzyme) clears both insulin and Aβ. When hyperinsulinemia (from gut-driven peripheral IR) floods the system, IDE gets occupied by excess insulin and can't clear Aβ as efficiently, plaques accumulate "*

That is a memorable turning point to CDs, change tracks instantly, and the CD changers, good times!

Apparently not enough care about all that, not mentioned anymore and didn't matter to enough people then. I think Biden's biggest issue was waiting to drop out, should not have run again, and had normal primary, so all the ones that complained about that, wouldn't have that excuse they hid behind for not voting Harris. She was not my top choice either, but much better than concentration camps and all the money wasted on suffering.

Voters didn’t care,

Misinformed selfish hasty,

Now nazis kidnap

Idiocracy,

They will vote maga again,

They abuse children

[–] Alexfire@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Whatever, Dems get a majority and can't pass much w/o orange, not enough votes to convict impeachment, will get blamed for spending time on the hearings and not fixing everything, '28 they go back to maga, tiktok and the rest spread the propaganda and they fall for it, it's how they do.

That one Dem yelled too,

Enthusiastically,

And lost election

Q: What % of people that are abusive in the various ways, some even convicted of crimes, support controlling, authoritarian ways, vs warm and authoritative ways, equality, etc?

A: If you group all abusers together, roughly 85% to 90% actively support or default to controlling, authoritarian methods to handle their relationships. The remaining 10% to 15% might state they believe in equality or warmth, but their personal actions fundamentally break those principles due to antisocial traits or psychological instability. Yes, the supernatural, and other controlling systems, that keep people obedient in low-level and magical thinking, prevents them from using science, tech and all the things that improve their lives. The systems teach to not question, don't go beyond right/wrong to higher thinking that needs nuance and real life data-backed what works. Also most don't learn how the ego tries to protect in unhelpful ways, and transcend the ego, in this life now. Don't let the old ways override the prefrontal cortex critical thinking and knowledge that is already proven. It's hard to do that if don't know about this or told it's bad to question, and the supernatural ideas are all one knows. Need broad education somehow that people welcome. Sagan's Baloney detection kit is a wonderful start, read The Demon Haunted World and the story of the invisible fire breathing dragon!

I wish everyone could escape the controlling systems and be free and self-actualize. We are conscious waves of one ocean, made of billions of years old elements, the universe understanding itself, continuous DNA from the first life to us, which survived all the extinction events, but many will suffer in the current, human-caused one. There is less suffering with less tribal and supernatural ways, since that is not the cooperation and data-backed ways the real world needs. The cosmos is indifferent to us and nothing supernatural is coming to save the one habitable planet we know of like this.

Yes, it's human made causes, not supernatural, so of course they need human made solutions. Like human trafficking and infections will not get fixed by incantations, but can be fixed with data-backed solutions. Use Sagan's baloney detection kit to figure out what has backing and peer reviewed, and is best for healthy, happy humanity of the majority, no just the wealthy owners.

Right, it's that system which pays so low and bad benefits, that you can't take one day off work, w/o pay or with paid sick or vacation, which workers in decent countries have since people deserve it and demanded it. Will never get that in usa when so many vote against it with maga.

[–] Alexfire@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It's true in many ways, but balls aren't needed lol. The controlling systems (like maga that the voters elected) use propaganda against minorities for problems they did not cause to stir fear and tribalism. They keep people afraid, or unable, to take one day off, a Monday or Friday for a long weekend maybe. 23% don't have paid sick time to use for a day, maybe use vacation if they have it and ask early enough. True it's not like the fear of wars like in so many places today still, tragically. They are all caused by the controlling systems, for supernatural reasons, greed, punching down or all those.

Workers in other countries have those benefits and healthcare not bound to employers. Other countries have abusive working conditions and other life stress, that is another tragedy. Some states with enough Democrat majority, passed paid sick and family leave, school meals for all and other things that help working people. Those benefits could be national with enough Dem majority, AND for long enough to pass the changes, that people notice in their lives, like happened with ACA eventually, while maga attempts to sabotage it.

I'm afraid enough people get the "good benefits" so they wrongly think everyone can and don't want it for all, and they are team maga. It is part of the founding lore of usa, land of the free, do it all on their own with bare hands, self-made, etc. As if many people in other lands didn't work hard from meager start and do well. It's all been done before, not special, it's the indoctrination. Let's do better, unite to solve the global climate refugee crisis, and keep human health as the top goal! Be excellent to each other!

I ran it by an llm and it seemed thoughtful about it, it uses MN as a model since it had the highest participation rate earlier in the year. Here is some of what it returned:

Based on the Minnesota model, union density data (BLS 2025), and what actually happened on May 1, here's a reasonable extrapolation for states most likely to see a replicated "full" general strike (i.e., businesses/schools actually closing, not just rallies):

Effectiveness ceiling: A one-day strike in any single state (even NY) would not paralyze the national economy. The real leverage is simultaneous multi-state action — if MN + NY + IL + CA + WA + NJ all hit the "Minnesota threshold" on the same day, you'd see:

~30–40% of the national MTA-equivalent transit system down 200+ school districts closed Major port disruptions (LA, NY/NJ, Seattle) Boeing/Amazon/Apple supply chain hit
