"AI".

Back in my day, AI was another term for the computer in video games, like CPU.

Quite a diverse selection of games this year. Spent WAY too much time on Steam this year.

Arch Linux (BTW) is my main/dev OS, but also Windows 10 VM for certain projects.

For simple scripting in any language: VSCodium

PyCharm, Android Studio for projects in specific languages.

For other full projects: VSCodium

As for testing/deploying projects, I have a QEMU dev VM that's connected to my IDEs using shared folders running basic Arch with fresh install of KDE Plasma.

Plugins mainly consist of QoL features, linting for certain languages in VSCodium, themes, etc.

The naming scheme seems similar to Steins;Gate. Was it made by the same devs?

So recently, I ended up getting sick from an event I went to. I took sick leave from my employment, and I have a few days to rest. I don't want to just stay in bed, however.

So, what games do you like to play when your sick? Something that doesn't require too much thinking to play.

pgrep and pkill -9 when those work for unresponsive programs

KDE's System Monitor when using the above doesn't work

For looking cool/viewing running programs: btop

Dank Pods! The content has only gotten better over the years, plus their expansion into car stuff and gaming. Started from iPods, now a bunch of different type of content. 🇦🇺

Got a new controller I have been wanting for a while at the price of my old one, except this new one has way more features than the previous one.

why does it have to be webview though

I mean, Windows 11 is like 90% WebView. The fact you can slow down Windows by spamming the super key to open and close the start menu says it all.

Bocchi the ICA Agent

I don't identify myself with any side in politics. Why pick a side when every side is shit.

A local Mexican restaurant served a really good Barbeque cheeseburger compared to local sandwich restaurants.

Picked a random space word and a random object in the room at the time.

My avatar was created by me a long time ago based on the "Astro" part of my username.

Now, don't get me wrong, I like the premise of GrapheneOS. The security features it offers are great. However, you're sacrificing useful hardware features by using it.

Currently, the only phones that support GrapheneOS are Pixels, which lack the microSD card slot, dual sims, and a HEADPHONE JACK! To me, those features are not worth sacrificing for a little extra privacy.

Compared to LineageOS, however, they support a broad range of devices, even pixels. I can look through their supported devices and find one that has a headphone jack, microSD card slot, dual sims, etc. Yes, it's less private than GrapheneOS, but it's still more private than stock android or any of those other OEM roms (OneUI for example).

You can still keep some privacy using LineageOS while preserving functionality with projects like MicroG.

Overall, I think for the time being, unless you are really paranoid or live in a anti-privacy area, LineageOS is the better OS to use than GrapheneOS due to still gaining some level of privacy while preserving useful hardware festures. Once GrapheneOS branches out from Pixel phones, I might change my opinion.

I currently use a DualShock 4, and I'm looking for an Xbox layout controller for PC that is ergonomic. I was looking at the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 for its extra buttons and Xbox style, but I'm not sure how ergonomic it is.

Additionally, with the announcement of the Steam Controller (2), I'm waiting for that to release to see what people think as well.

Bonus question: Are there any controllers you have used that feels comfortable or is ergonomic?

I count on my fingers using this method:

  1. No fingers = 0, assume all values are cumulative unless stated otherwise.

  2. Start with index finger on Right hand:

  • 1 = Index
  • 2 = Middle
  • 3 = Ring
  • 4 = Pinky
  • 5 = Thumb
  1. After five, clear hand and start from Thumb and go until 9 (Ring)
  • 6 = Thumb
  • 7 = Index ... etc
  1. Double digits are counted on Left hand*, following same process as 1-3.
  • For example: 13 would be:
    • Left Hand: Index
    • Right Hand: Index, Middle, Ring
  • For something like 47 would be:
    • Left Hand: Index, Middle, Ring, Pinky
    • Right Hand: Thumb, Index

Using this method, the highest you can count to is 109:

  • Left Hand: Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, Pinky
  • Right Hand: Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring

You could also probably differentiate 5 and 10 by half-raising your thumb for 5, and full raise for 6-10.

With the recent false banning of tech channels, such as Enderman, I really want to find alternative platforms to watch tech content. I know a few YouTubers who have channels on Odysee, PeerTube, etc. However, I would rather watch them in a desktop app as opposed to a web browser.

Is there any desktop QT applications for Linux (ideally Arch BTW) that allow me to watch videos from a decentralized video platform, such as PeerTube? Ideally, it would use QT as I'm using KDE Plasma, but if they're aren't many, then GTK is fine too.

As a bonus: Something similar to FreeTube, which is what I use for YouTube. If it's something similar, it doesn't have to be QT as I know FreeTube isn't.

EDIT: I chose the lighter one and it does stand out more from the surrounding surfaces. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

I am designing my kitchen in House Flipper, and I can't decide between two cabinet colors. The two types of wood I'm stuck on are Wenge and Pale Bleached Cedar. I don't want the cabinet to blend it too much with the surrounding wood, but I don't know if Cedar sticks out too much. What are your thoughts?

Wenge

Pale Bleached Cedar

I've seen many people talk about how they really like using YouTube ReVanced as their main way of watching YT on their phones.

I've also seen people talk about NewPipe aswell. Personally, I use NewPipe because I can't stand the YouTube app, and I don't want to set up ReVanced for it. I just want something that works.

So to you Lemmy users, which do you use and why? What is about your choice that you like?

Love playing SuperTuxKart. I love the ability to change game files to make it my own experience. I love the ability to download custom content through the form of Addons.

I was curious to know if anyone has made some type of 'Remaster' of the game, in a newer engine like Godot (No proprietary stuff like Unity or UE), maybe with higher resolution textures or better lighting?

Edit: Apparently, I didn't have my graphic settings set to max. After setting them to max, I am amazed. The difference it makes is incredible! Especially on Black Forest, it looks almost like a modern game (without the negative parts)!

Been playing the Re-Console modpack for Minecraft to get that nostalgic feel. Since Iris was installed, I downloaded the "Super Duper Vanilla" shaderpack to see what Minecraft could have been like back in TU1 if the cancelled Super Duper Graphics pack was around then.

The old crafting menu is very nostalgic too. I still think it's better than the recipe book in vanilla Java.

From fast4x in the RiMusic Telegram channel:

Hi all, i can only say that i am very sorry and that unfortunately the project cannot continue to be a music streaming app based on YouTube.

It is unfortunate this happened to such a good FOSS music streaming app. Hopefully, someone can continue it.

To all the people who contributed to RiMusic all this time, thank you for making a great music streaming app!

As well, thank you fast4x for working hard each week to get RiMusic to where it is.

So, I've recently binged a YouTube channel called Linux Creative Project, which documents someone's transition from macOS to Linux for creative work. They go over their hardware, software, and their experiences/problems during the transition.

Any of you know any other YouTube channels that do something similar (Documenting their transition to Linux)?
