This might have something to do with the dock using USB-C in Display Port alternative mode, and then taking this signal and shoving it in a HDMI port going to the screen. Maybe something is lost in translation along the way.

The thing is a lot of the ultra high-tech processes ASML uses rely on patents belonging to US actors such as universities. That's the arm twist the US use to forbid them from selling to some countries. But if the Orange One insists on isolationism and full on trade war, that destroys a lot of incentives for ASML to honor the patents system.
