Hate to say it, but lots of people still buy VW even when the current CEO is still sympathetic to Nazis. Unfortunately Tesla will be fine.

When I say this, my dog always does a double take. Like his head shoots straight up and he looks around excited, but he doesn't freak out until I say it again and confirm that we are, in fact, going for a walk.

Hello there 👋

[–] BlueLineBae@midwest.social 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

My childhood dog was a rescue that was originally a stray dog. This dog would catch flies right out of the air! It didn't take long for us to discover that he was so fast, nothing ever touched the ground. I once lost a whole waffle to him when it slipped off my plate and went seemingly direct into his mouth.

Jeez, haven't seen movie Bob around in a while. Is this what he's up to these days? Fightin' Nazis? If so, good for him!

In my experience, most people have simply never thought about it before. If someone decides they want to open a bakery and they have never had a business before, they haven't thought about everywhere their new logo will be used unless they get that expertise from someone. I've gotten pretty good at explaining these concepts to people and they typically respect my expertise and take my advice, but not everyone 😆

Even if you took that image and used it to create a black and white illustration, it would be way too busy. The logo on the left isn't exactly amazing, but it's decent and checks all the boxes for usability and readability. The one on the right is more like... an image made for an ad which you can't put on a hat for example. The amount of times I've had to explain logo basics to a client who want to do something like the image on the right isn't great, but they usually understand why these rules are in place after explaining and they generally respect my expertise. But not everyone...

"hot dog sauce..."

Heinz ketchup once tried to rebrand their ketchup as "hot dog sauce" to trick the good people of Chicago into accidentally tainting their hotdogs with ketchup. We remain strong and stubborn as ever, but that was a close one. Sometimes I feel like the people of Chicago would be more open to adding licorice sauce to their hotdogs than ketchup.

Nothing will wake you up faster than the sound of your pet throwing up

Hey guys! I'm going on a week long camping rafting trip in a few weeks and I wanted to get some ideas for good travel size games. I've found that some travel size games have lots of pieces or boxes that are loose, so I'm looking for suggestions for small games you think will work well for outdoors and travel.

So far I've got:

  • 2 pack of waterproof cards
  • Magnetic mini chess board
  • Hive Pocket edition
  • Love letter
  • Hanabi if I can get the metal tin version

I just made the Stiggin’s Fancy Old Fashioned from Educated Barfly's video from today. I think it turned out exceptionally and quite intense if you enjoy that spectrum of cocktails.

Recipe: 2oz (60ml) Pineapple Rum 1 Bar Spoon Coffee Liqueur 1/4oz (7.5ml) Demerara Syrup 1 Dash Angostura Bitters 1 Dash Regans’ Orange Bitters No. 6 (I used Bitterman's) Orange Twist

When some of my succulents stretch over the winter, I need to repot them into lil' dinky pots so they can start fresh! Yes, I know I need to get a grow light 🙄

This shoot grew over the past week and the flowers started to open today. I'm super excited! Bonus pic of a pup I pulled off last season.

The Old Fashioned is my favorite drink. It introduced me to whiskey and mixology plus it's simple and versatile. I think it's easy to judge if a bar has good cocktails based solely on their Old Fashioned. What are your opinions, favorite variations, etc?

Definitely not recent, but I figured I could help get some content going. So here is my jam shelf from the Covid times. Jam making is a hobby of mine in the summer and I went a little wild with flavors that year since there wasn't anything else to do and I could send them to people.

Top shelf from left to right: Lemon Curd, Port Plum, Apricot, Strawberry Zinfandel, Peach Bourbon, Verry Berry, Peach, (small jar) apple butter from the year before, (large jar) Chili sauce, raspberry.

On the bottom shelf are various garnishes for cocktails that I didn't really can so much, but I thought I would list for those curious. (If you like cocktails, join us over on !cocktails@midwest.social). From left to right of what I can see: Smoked Salt, Cinnamon Sticks, Whole Nutmeg, Dried Lime Wheels, Candied Ginger, Tea Pot.

Not pictured: That years apple butter batch! I always make a massive batch of apple butter when my parents apples ripen. It often makes about 20 jars!

Hi all! r/succulents was one of my favorite subreddits and I wanted to move it over. Posting here to get some content started and I hope you enjoy!

Recipie:

  • 6-10 basil leaves (depending on size)
  • 2 oz dry gin
  • ½ oz Elderflower liqueur
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Honey syrup

Muddle Basil leaves in gin, then add in remaining ingredients. Shake with ice and double strain into glass. Garnish with a basil sprig. (side note: using purple basil makes the drink turn a lovely pink.)
