Don’t forget your hat. And shave that facial hair!

What’s the counterargument for it? Or do I just nod and smile

I’ve had people (family) argue that drug use increases crime, and by providing things like safe injection sites or narcan you’re encouraging more drug use and inviting more crime by removing the consequences.

Reminds me of this video from Local 58 https://youtu.be/3c66w6fVqOI

I know what I want to draw, but there's something missing between that idea and the paper. I can imagine what I want it to look like, in a way, but only as a vague reification of a concept, not as something made of lines and colors, and it's useless for trying to get it down on paper. I inevitably end up with something so far from my original idea that it's massively discouraging.

I expect that I'd develop a better eye for this sort of thing if I was to practice it for years, but it's very difficult to feel motivated to do that when you can't produce anything remotely like what you were going for.

The difference is that we don't have a bunch of slaves to paint them for us

My issue with 24h of Lemons is that everyone seems to just ignore the $500 cap and just take the penalties at the end, so it all evens out. Anyone who does try to limit themselves to $500 would be competing against people who didn’t, and might lose even if they didn’t take any penalties.

If you set it on fire it makes a rainbow. There’s something profound in that.

My parents used to have an old Amana Radarange. Built like a tank, wood paneling and chrome, warm incandescent lighting…I miss it. It didn’t have a beep or a bell or anything. Once it was done it would just…turn off.

Robin Hood is a twink confirmed

"[The water] rushes with great impetuosity; the foaming surges dash through the rocks with terrific violence; no craft, either large or small, can venture there safely. During floods, this obstruction, or ledge of rocks, is covered with water, yet the passage of the narrows is not thereby improved."

The rapids, along with nearby Celilo Falls, were submerged in 1957 with the construction of a dam.

Several years ago I leapt enthusiastically into the realm of 3D printing by buying a massive, expensive delta-type printer. I had to put it together myself, which was fun, but after that I struggled to get it to print well. Even simply trying to get the prints to stick to the bed were difficult, leading me to add huge brims to all my parts which were a pain to cut off afterward. Eventually I gave up fiddling with it and it’s been gathering dust ever since.

I know that a lot of you treat the hobby as an opportunity for endless tinkering and optimization, which is great, but I think I’ve realized that what I’d prefer is something that just works out of the box with a minimum of adjustment.
