Hey looks, it's Magic the Gathering

I think that's the final nail in the coffin for me. I don't wanna play pop culture soup, I wanna play magic. Im out.

They're just mean via proton, which tbh is fine. Everything works great through proton.

There is a growing tide of discontent as an entire generation foots the damage and bills of their predecessors. Until Labor finds a backbone and makes real, sweeping reforms in places where it actually matters to the majority of Australian families (complete tax overhaul, for one. Proper housing reform for another), they will continue to flounder. They had the opportunity to make large reforms, picked the wrong one to start with (voice), bungled it, and are now frozen with fright.

The tragedy is that even if they get another go at it, I have little faith that the current cabinet will change their mediocre, middle-of-the-road strategy of minimal impact. As Whitlam rightfully said, Labor is the party of reform and as soon as they stop being that, they are dead in the water.

My only gripe is pretty straight forward: the cost to play.

I LOVE draft, but have been unable to play it on Arena due to the high cost of entry. They allow standard play for free, but paywall draft. I know I can technically grind dailies to get enough gold, and then if im lucky enough and win enough I can earn enough back to chain another draft, but this is eventually a losing game, a bit like a slot machine.

I just have zero interest in grinding standard, and refuse to pay almost as much as physical draft for non-tangible, digital version. It feels very predatory.

Well that's a straight up lie. You can go to the waiting list data for elective surgeries in each state and territory and see that it's closer to 365 day waiting period on average.

Lets hope this goes somewhere. EU is punching well when it comes to putting a stop to rampant monopolisation, greed, and deceptive conduct of tech snd digital companies.

Ahhh that makes sense. Thanks, looks weird, like floating above

What's the thing above his head supposed to be?

Interesting card, but I don't get the theme at all. How is an american jock an element of a haunted house?

They couldn't have thought of a more provocative name? Fun removal spell

G'day all,

We got a pretty quiet community going here, but hey, that's our CBR style sometimes. I am keen on collecting thoughts on keeping the Daily Discussion Threads going? They don't seem to be very active and can make the community look quite bare, cluttering up the feed.

Keen for your thoughts

Have had this issue since the 1.11.4 update, wondering if just me? Icon shows 1 update available, despite being on latest version. Click install, icon still showing update available. On webapp 1.11.14.

Getting around 130fps avg frames, sometime dipping down into the 80's, when playing CS2. Did a recent system upgrade and presumed performance would be better than this for the build?

Gear:

  • Ryzen 7 5700x 3.4ghz
  • 6750XT 12gb ddr6
  • 16gb 3600mhz ddr4
  • m.2 SSD
  • 144hz , 1440 screen with freesync
  • Running Mint latest version

Have tried in-game settings at lowest, still not managing to get a stable FPS above 144. Mucking with settings doesn't seem to change performance much. Have set game to run with '-vulkan' which helped reduce some stuttering issues, but not much performance gain.

I also only get <100fps with other games like BG3. Figured this kit would be able to handle modern games a bit better. Any ideas what's going on?

EDIT: For future reference, the following changes were made and am now getting ~200fps

  • Enabled asus EZ Tune in BIOS (rather than manually muck with each setting)
  • Updated gpu drivers via 'amdgpu -install'
  • Enable gamemode

I’m running BG3 through Proton (linux OS) so troubleshooting whether glitches are game engine issues or proton issues is tough.

Apart from some graphical artefact pop-ins which I just ignore, one common glitch im getting is the game not recognising to scroll the camera when you mouse to the edge of the screen. This happens when in windowed or fullscreen mode.

A work around seems to be using the arrow keys first, after which the game correctly recognises mouse scrolling at screen edge. You have to do this every time between interactions though, which can get annoying.

Trying to see if this is a proton issue or known game bug. Anyone else experiencing this?

Nice to see a new dudeist community pop up in addition to dudeism@lemmy.world . Take 'er easy!

Are there any good quality, open-source or community-driven alternatives to goodreads? Something which offers the same discoverability service for similar or related books, including the ability to wishlist and review?

(Linux Mint) Switched to an AMD graphics card recently and ran “sudo apt remove --purge” on all ^nvidia* and ^libnvidia* packages. Unfortunately, one package (libnvidia-compute-470) seems to not get the message and won’t remove itself. Quick search around the internet on solutions have not resolved the issue yet. Wondering if anyone had any ideas how to manually remove this package? Cheers!

One of the hurdles to change for users switching from reddit to a federated platform is less content. The logic goes: “smaller community, less content, I can see i’m missing out on stuff over there so I’m not going to switch away”.

One potential solution to this would be automated cross-posting, using bots or similar. Obviously there are cons to this approach, which we are all likely aware of.

What are your thoughts on focusing efforts in this direction to drive faster user growth? Good because it will drive more users to consider jumping ship given that it reduces FOMO? Bad because it makes the place look less community spirited and genuine and different?
