Meet The Mouth, an 8yo European Starling I found as a nestling that had somehow fallen into the street. He is imprinted and not an ethical candidate for release, he lives indoors for his safety. He learns his sounds from his environment, and gets very vocal this time of year as it’s breeding season.

Took the tarp off a woodpile and found a coiled up adult copperhead and dear reader let me assure you I did not remain calm, or withdraw from the encounter with dignity or in silence.

Last month, Michele Francis, an environmental scientist at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, relocated to central Connecticut only to discover that her new home showed signs of termite damage. When an exterminator suggested setting out traps, Dr. Francis demurred. “I wondered if I could persuade the termites to eat the trees around my house rather than the house itself,” she said. “I hold termites in high esteem.”

The Detroit Tigers bullpen looks like the room in Alien Resurrection where they have all the cloned Ripleys that didn't quite work out. But in this case it's 8 attempts to clone Waingro from Heat from a degraded DNA sample.

did he just have a mask-off moment out of nowhere?

As far as I know - it's that.

a pathetic old man fight on the green

Oh, please god make that a reality. If it happened - I'd always remember it. If I ever fell into hard times - I'd remember it. If I had insomnia yet again - I'd remember it. In my darkest, unhappiest hours I'd remember that and at least smile if not laugh.

Liberal heads would start exploding within seconds of the announcement.

Under capitalism the only thing allowed to end is life.

Bah boom.

Here's a post by a tedious super-self-serious Bluesky lib. At least he's funny this time. My question is - Will popcorn still exist?

I saw that they announced Shrek 5 today and that it's coming in July 2026, and it just seemed like the most bizarre thing to me. Like who can even imagine what July 2026 is going to be like and whether the people alive then will be in a place where they want to see Shrek again.

Yeap.

Here's a tweet that could actually be from the future.

"Look, when Biden fell down and broke his hip in September - that was exactly the time for the extreme-left to help out. But did they? No! They made meme after meme kicking the president went he was down. Sure, I get it. They hate Biden and they hate America. But they helped Tr*mp! They helped elect Tr*mp! It's like they voted for Tr*mp! And Tr*mp won! I - for one - will never forgive them. 1/87"

I'd say "Do you know any show tunes? Can ya sing me this one?"

My take may be way off but I think he's trying to do two things at the same time for his own benefit.

  1. "Whoa, guys. Let's not literally say the words 'blood and soil' that's going too far!"

  2. "Oh, my goodness! I literally said the words 'blood and soil'!" Wink-wink.

Haha - the number of reps went from 6 to 7 on the NYT's "Which Democrats Have Called for Biden to Drop Out of the Race?" page. The number of senators and governors both remain at zero.

I don't mean to start a struggle session but I'd much rather have an ibis be my local trash bird than pigeons or seagulls. Ibises are cool-looking. Oops. Did I say too much?
