I have 3 of these units since last summer. Should I be cleaning them out? Pardon the ignorance. I've never owned a window unit before and I won't have one after this summer.

I would imagine some sort of heat pump is being used to transfer the heat from the electronics to the radiators. I still wonder how they're dealing with the heat.

Regardless of their intentions, they live here, work here, and most of their interests are here. You don't get disqualified from being American just because you're a massive piece of shit. Plenty of Americans are massive pieces of shit.

Is there another source for this?

They are both immigrants with US citizenship. Classifying people as "not real Americans" is the kind of thinking we should be moving away from. Otherwise I agree: both are sociopathic oligarchs with no loyalty or patriotism for America and see it mainly as theirs for the taking.

I think Jared Leto is a pretty good casting choice. He's a self absorbed douche so he barely had to act.

I only watched a bit of True Detective season 2 but I could tell it was not going to be nearly as good as the phenomenal first season

The 4 basic rules of gun safety:

  1. Treat every gun as if it's loaded
  2. Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire
  3. Don't point it at anything you aren't ok destroying
  4. Be sure of your target and what's behind it

More people should know these rules.

I used to be an engineer in a manufacturing plant in South Carolina. At the time, South Carolina was booming. People were moving in from all over the country due to lower housing costs. However, the plant I worked at had a labor shortage at the same time that they had huge demand. We had something like 7 new production lines in various stages of installation all at once. The issue was so acute that we were constantly running overtime and still would have to expedite orders to prevent shutting down the customer. We cancelled the twice-a-year shutdown week several times in a row, deferring needed maintenance. A facility had recently broken ground next door with plans to hire 4000 employees in a couple years.

What did my employer pay the much-needed line operators? $15/hr. For $15 you can work 6 or 7 days per week or you could work at Chick-fil-A. The company was breaking it's back in order to avoid paying people more. Rather than lowering the workload in any smart way, they just squeezed the people they had harder. I quit for that reason.

Four fingers + shortcut: "what do you mean I didn't draw a straight in my opening hand? This is bullshit!

Dan Gelbart is a rich Canadian guy who made his millions building machines for other companies. Now he has a money-is-no-object shop to mess around in. I particularly like the video going over his lathe/grinder combo that he designed and built. The spindles and ways are on air bearings and it's incredibly precise. Also check out his video on flexures where he shows off a simple water jet part that allows 25x resolution for you measurements or positioning.

Game starts at 4:05. He entirely relies on game audio to play the game. Street Fighter 6 has good accessibility options that he uses to help understand the game state.

On the Beehaw local page, it's filled with posts from the Socialism community. On my subscriptions page, it's filled with posts from a 196 community. I'm glad Lemmy is getting communities that are gaining traction, but I don't want my feeds dominated by a few communities. I'm not sure if this is a Lemmy issue, a Beehaw issue, or a Thunder issue. Anybody have any ideas?

Pictured is mainly the shoe unit and backing plate for a CNC internal grinding machine. The quill sans wheel is on the right. The single point dresser is mounted to the shoe unit. This is a picture taken before re-fitting this grinder to grind taper inner ring bores. This grinder wasn't meant for that so I took a picture for reference while we discussed what modifications were needed.
