I went through 3 Subaru WRXs before I switched to the Miata. The only one of them I miss now is the rally built one I had because rally driving is objectively the most fun type of driving.

But throwing my Miata around a corner harder than a McLaren in autocross is pretty damn close too haha

Skill issue tbh

No buddy, I saw one guy shot multiple times.

And yes, it is gross. And it haunts me everywhere I go, even years later. Unfortunately just because I have a cushy office job doesn't mean I haven't seen horrible things outside of the office. You don't know me, where I grew up, or where I live now.

All you know is that I work in IT.

But none of this is your business and I'm not interested in continuing to talk about my trauma. You are the first person I've ever blocked on social media and it's because I frankly just don't like you.

As far as I'm aware Skype does not support actual VOIP calling anymore, at least according to Microsoft and the couple forums i just skimmed through. But it's been probably 10+ years since I've actually used it or interacted with anyone who used it haha

And I was talking about static IPs, which are different. And at least in the US (in single family homes) its crazy unlikely that your router is behind any NAT. Unless you're talking about CGNAT but anything short of a dedicated fiber run or dedicated wavelength (which are not options for residential people) you will be behind a CGNAT anyways. Even if you have a public IP.

And, anecdotally. In the last 5-8 years I don't think I've had any issues with NAT when hosting games, it's just firewall rules or my public IP changed. But ymmv on that one when playing 22 year old games haha

That's actually kinda crazy to me because those "tedious conversations" are usually the highlight of my dad. It's a nice lil bit of human connection while I slog through the corporate machine

Xfinity in the states is like that too. Technically I don't have a static but it's only changed twice in 4 years or so.

Once was during a really really bad storm which took power down in my state for days so I don't blame them, and the other one was when they did work on my local node but they sent out an email and a letter before hand lol

There's pretty much no use for a normal person, just for business and power users like the person above you.

For your couple examples, nobody at home actually runs VOIP except a couple nerds just like nobody has home phones except a couple of old people. And quick game servers don't need statics, and if you are hosting something long term that would push you into the power use space.

So like when you get home from a normal and boring day at work you just walk into your house in silence and sit down?

No "hey honey how are you" or anything like that? No ranting about crappy coworkers? No comments about how you saw 6 silver accords in a row on the way to work?

Why are you such an asshole?

[–] Lv_InSaNe_vL@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago

I see you haven't made a comment on social media in a while haha

I'm obsessed with this xkcd because it eloquently explains something I've been trying to explain to my techs (I'm a director of IT) and my more techy friends.

Its not that most people like the ads (although personalized ads are really nice), it's that most people legitimately don't give a shit. Nobody really cares that PC gaming is "better", or Linux is "better", or building your own PC is "better" except the turbo nerds like us (and yes, im including you kind reader as you are on Lemmy)

The only feature I would care about with nitro is using emojis everywhere but that feature isn't worth any amount of money let alone whatever discord is charging for it

I tend to have some more free time on Sundays so I was hoping to start making some nicer and fancier diners.

I'd say I would have about 90 minutes or so that I could dedicate to prep time (or if it needs prepped the night before like a marinade that's fine too) and pretty much as long as it needs for cooking too.

What's your favorite meal to make on your weekends?

I used to use Boost for Reddit and one of my favorite features was the custom Feeds.

Is there any plans to bring those back? Or am I just missing it?

Hello all, I am looking to start getting back into RSS feeds but nothing Ive found so far matches all of my requirements so i was going to see if you guys had any advice.

My requirements are:

  • Self hosted (preferably with an official docker container)
  • I should be able to view it in the web, as well as with an Android app but it doesn't have to be a first party app
  • It has to look nice and modern, preferably with a dark mode option

Anything you guys know of that would meet all three of those things?

Currently my plan is to run FreshRSS as my aggregator and FeedMe or Focus Reader on Android. I don't really have any plans for web viewers though
