If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was in a room with Meta, Hitler and Bin Laden. I would shoot Meta thrice.

So potentially I can have a PB bath for around 100$? Neat

[–] MTK@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Yeah, that's when the threat of violence come in handy.

I'm not denying the horrible history, but it absolutely does not justify the murder of innocent people.

[–] MTK@lemmy.world -1 points 13 hours ago

You say 20-40 minors like that isn't crazy fucked up.

[–] MTK@lemmy.world -1 points 13 hours ago

Yeah? You wanna argue that Hamas didn't murder children? Are that deep in denial? There are literal videos of it, just like the ones that we see from Gaza right now.

Tip: if you used a hammer, you are installing an OS incorrectly, but if you didn't threaten the computer with a hammer you also did something wrong.

All computers are driven by fear, that is why I always kick them when they make too much noise.

Israel was formed on "gifted" land that was colonized by the british. It was wrong. Palestine has the right to fight. Yes, a terrorist that directly targets innocent people has absolutely no right except the right to due process.

I don't igonre the horrible history, but it does not justify the horrible actions by Hamas (or Israel)

In an ideal world both leaders would be removed and replaced with ones that actually want a peaceful and practical solution. Fuck Hamas, Fuck Israel and I hope ths innocent people will be okay and this war and genocide will stop.

Are you saying that the 7th wasn't fueled by hate?

I get the history, but just as you can't ignore it, you also can't use it to justify atrocious actions

[–] MTK@lemmy.world -3 points 16 hours ago (6 children)

I do call for the end of Occupation, but none of what you said justifies innocents being murdered.

[–] MTK@lemmy.world -4 points 16 hours ago (6 children)

So? That has nothing to do with their vile actions

[–] MTK@lemmy.world -2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I get what you are saying, but I don't think that is actually in the comment I made. My commebt was about the problem of accusing the public as it lumps groups that some of which ate actually fighting against the genocide.

I don't like comparing atrocities, but yeah, genocide is worse. So I don't understand why you assume I see both sides as equal?

I commented the following on this post problem is not Netanyahu, it is not Ben Gvir. it is the white supremacist mindset of Israeli public.

This is not new, extremists gain power, they are then making everything they can to stay in power while they slowly turn anyone they can to their side. They use the education system, political systems, laws and the media. Considering that Netanyahu has been in power since 2009 he has literally shaped the political and moral ideology of a significant part of the population. Imagine being 10 yo at 2009, by the time you van vote all you ever knew was Netanyahu. At the end of the day, an adult that is calling for genocide is responsible for their opinions and actions, but this is how a situation where a majority of a country if genocidal happens, with slow, steady and intentional manipulation of the public. Netanyahu and his terrorist goons ARE the problem, but at this point removing them from power is just a small part of the solution. As a kid I always wandered how people can truly think a genocide is a good idea, as an adult I am sad to see that it really is that easy, it really can start with just the wrong people gaining power. And just to be fair, this is very much true about Palestine as well. While the situation is completely different, they too have been under a genocidal and terroristic regime since 2006 and many (probably most) would answer similarly to such a questionnaire about Israelis and Jews. Of course Palestine have had the short end of the stick for all of those years while Israel got to become a developed country. It's just sad to see how the people in power just fuck everyone around them, no one wins, no one is happy, all you get is death, hate and destruction, and of course the reason for all of this: Money, religion, power.

I don't know how to check who the mod was but it seems that they are removing plenty of content, some of which seems to be content that just doesn't support a black and white view of the situation where Palestinians are the only victims and Israelis are all evil (not excusing genocide here)

And the weird thing is that rule one has nothing to do with the comment:

Thought about it recently as I realized that I really like the song.

I understand that it is a switch to connect the battery to the sarter. But why not just make the ignition switch the actual switch?

Is it because the amps are high so the switch would be too big to comfortably use? Because if that is the case, wouldn't a simple mechanical solution be better?

Title is a bit much so let me explain.

The world has all kinds of terrible things that the individual can do basically nothing about. Luckily, for most of us it has no direct impact and we are able to ignore the painful reality. But what if you were in a situation where it did impact you? In a way that is part of your everyday. What if for years you are struggling with the internal conflict of "there is nothing I can do about it" and "I can't continue like this"?

As for the drugs, I specifically mean weed and specifically for the days where I find it too hard to ignore. I find myself thinking that if I get high I will have an easier time ignoring the pain and doing something good like cleaning or working.

Notes:

  • Don't bother with telling me that even the individual has the power to make great changes, I believe it and I'm doing my best, but I am also aware of the fact that this situation will not be changed in my lifetime probably.
  • I'm not suicidal, I don't harm myself and while I can tell that lately I have been using weed too much, I don't think I am abusing it. I'm logging my usage and I review it weekly, If it get's out of hand I will know (I think)
  • I'm mostly asking about using external stimulation as a form of escapism
  • Yes, I need therapy, sadly it is expensive. Yes I am looking for options.

EDIT: Thanks to all of the replies, I have read them all but I don't want to respond to all of them. I think this post helped, so thank you!

More photos in the comments. Is it supposed to be connected to the motherboard? I found it in the case. It wasn't connected. I think that the backside is some sort of thermal patch. I can tell that it's not a camera but I'm very confused and the connection reminds me of more of a laptop or phone connection not something you would see in a PC. The data matrix contains the same text as the white sticker.

I think this is the ultimate red line that the US crossed from a democracy to a fascist authoritarian country. Here are my points:

  • Trump is a known criminal who encouraged a terrorist attack against the government and government officials. The fact that he was not only free of punishment but also legible for running as president shows that the democracy was already extremely vulnerable to a hostile takeover.
  • Trump before that has repeatedly tried to convince the public that the election he lost was rigged, this is a blatant attempt to hurt the government and derail the people twoards an insurrection. At the very least he should have been investigated for conspiracy against the government (If he was muslim he would have been fucking assassinated as a terrorist already)
  • The insertion of an unelected and unqualified person into the government and letting him run around and fuck with confidential and extremely sensitive systems and data (Elon) is something that should have been stopped way before he was able to start gutting public services.
  • Trump did a pump and dump on NFTs, meme coins, and most recently the literal US economy. He is not even investigated for securitys fraud.

And now the really really bad things:

  • Deported legal residents without due process and with secret "evidence" that no one is willing to share past "terrorism and national security"
  • Ignored the supreme court and deported innocent people to a literal concentration camp. This is the 101 of a democracy being shattered, the authority ignoring the law and the police (ICE in this case) listening to the authority and not the law.
  • Has now publicly and shamelessly announced that legal, US born citizens are next. This is past illegal, this unconstitutional and is the very thing the founders of the USA had in mind when writing the constitution.

And all of this without mentioning Trump as a private person being a convicted felon, rapist and a failure of a businessman to a degree that any sane person wouldn't let him run a fucking easy-bake oven bakery.

So, am I crazy or did we just witness the actual moment that historians would label as the fall of the US democracy?

All things considered, it has only been about 3 months since Trump took office, I feel like there is absolutely no way that this was just a single craze and from here things will even out.

I feel like until 2028 (or maybe 2026?) S&P 500 is going to look like a roller coaster.

What do you think?

I wonder if (assuming things get better) future generations would be like "I hate this boring and lifeless AI art that we have today, I wish I was born in the 2010s!" Or will the shit show that has been going for the last few years be so vivid that they would be happy not to have been born now.

Kinda like how it can be fun to imagine being born as a boomer and working casually while living luxuriously, but not so much to imagine being born in 1920s and going through WWII as a soldier

Or maybe they will also yearn to be boomers lol

Not the way it should be, but cool I guess

I'm being serious. I think that if instead of Trump there was just a prompt "engineer" the country would actually run better. Even if you train it to be far right.

And this is not a praise of LLMs...

They are not wrong about the fact that what she did was wrong and deflective, but the irony of saying that she is deflecting while completely ignoring the reality that she mentioned.

I want some unbiased opinions so I will try to write this from a third person perspective.

There are two friends and they have the kind of relationship where they are open about everything and talk about everything. You could say that it's similar in its depth to a familial relationship or a partnership. We will cal them friend X and friend S.

X is going through a lot and therefore is emotionally overwhelmed at times. S is also going through a lot, but not nearly to the same degree. Both friends are neurodivergent (adhd) but friend S is neurodivergent in a way that is probably more problematic for social interactions.

Both friends mostly interact over text, which S claims is a medium that lacks the nuance of other conversational mediums such as voice, video or real life. Friend X is prone to outbursts of rage over text and Friend S believes that this is because the medium lacks the nuance that could indicate for Friend S that Friend X is about to burst and therefore change their behavior.

I'm sorry that this is kind of dry and robotic, but I really want to get an unbiased perspective, which is very hard when you write things in your own words.

Now here is the issue. When X bursts, S usually would apologize but try to indicate that the conversation lacked the nuance that was needed to understand that this is an explosive topic. And friend x has in the past said that they will try to be clear about how they feel before reaching the point of an outburst.

X doesn't accept this argument and ends up blaming S for lacking emotional intelligence. S on the other hand feels that accusing them of being emotionally unintelligent is insulting and unproductive, while X claims that saying that is just defensive and avoiding responsibility.

You don't have to say who is right or wrong in this situation, but I would like to understand if calling someone emotionally unintelligent can be productive or is it just straight up like calling them dumb as they might claim.
