Yes, if that is true (and I am not that suprised about it) it is nearly impossible to block them this way.

Isn't fail2ban a possibility too? I created a filter for chatgpt and some others, and it feels like its working. My radicale server is my only free acessable service but it comes with a small webgui and so the bots showed up. I have no clue if the bot gets a fraction of your site each time it shows up, but seemingly the ban happens within 300ms when I remember correct. So it wouldn't be that much of information...

When setting the retry to 1 it will ban at the first sight.

Well my first reply is: setting up yor own router is like to learn driving with a touring car. You just need to know a lot to set up/handle everything properly. Its just not easy and in m opinion the most wrong point to start.

DNS-wise I would like to recommend something like pihole. To me it was my first thing I installed and used until this day and also the handling of DNS is quite easy. Maybe you should consider lerning other things before setting up your own router.

Ok, I have watched a short video to create a colour profile with RawTherapee but it was a kind of preset for internal uses. I have no clue if this can be exported. But yes, It could be difficult to achive what I am looking for and create this profile...

I have a Radeon so nVibrant is no choice.

Thank you very much for the reference even if I do not have seen shader code ever before.

Maybe I underestimate this peofiles, but I got it this way:
These profiles are made to have better matching colours when it comes to different devices. For example, a photo camera, your display and the printer. All of them will show differences for each colour in your taken pictures. A profile is used to minimize those differences so that the print is as close as it could get on your taken or edited picture colorwise.

So I think this is not the tool I am looking for. Moreover, to create my own profile i need a colorimeter to measure the colours my display is showing.

Colour Saturation (discuss.tchncs.de)

Hey there,

I think its not the first time you read about this.

I recently installed a Linux on my gaming pc and I want to fade out of Windows11 and into Linux only. So far so good.

One of my biggest concerns where the colours of my monitors. Since Adrenaline is not available on Linux, I hoped for another solution to get the colours bright and bangy. But it seems impossible with wayland.
And noo, its not a setting that my monitor can provide. It never was and it never will (I write it down since in every thread about this topic, someone was mentioning it sounds like something the monitor setting should handle).

  • For X11 there was vibrantLinux.
  • A maybe instable solution could be vibrant-cli.
  • For games there is Gamescope thanks to Valve. But this only works for Games started from within Steam.

So this means, my Desktop/Browser still is not as bangy as I want it to be.

My search lead me to KWin scripting could be the solution. This is where I need some advice or somebody to confirm!

If I want to increase the overall colour saturation for my monitors, the correct way to go is to create a KWin script that does it, pack it as a package and use it.

I found the KWin Scripting tutorial over at develop.kde.org and I feel like solving this problem could be interesting.

Since I have no experience with JS, ECMA-Scripting or QMA, all this will be new and I want to know beforehand if I walk the right path. If not, a lot of time will be consumed just to realise I was wrong.

Thanks for reading :)

PS: I like KDE very much

PPS: Just if you never heard of Adrenaline: I have Radeon gpu

Another possibility is, microsoft drops access to kernel level. This would solve all these problems at once. No more cheats on kernel level, no more anticheat on kernel level are needed.

Unfortunately I think Microsoft will avoid doing so, because it would remove one of the last barriers to switch to linux.

When you are talking about "popular" games, you mean service games that are often some kind of multiplayer games. Each of them binds a lot of players and is big and popular, indeed. But these are only a few compared to the amount of games that have been released in the past decade. Let alone released games from 2024 that are listed on imdb.com are 1551 Imdb.com

So yes, I can imagine 90% is right since the most games are no service games and do not require some shitty kernel level anti cheat.

For bugs: I have no idea since I only use linux for non-gaming tasks.

I use Trilium and I like it. The first thing I would like to mention: Trilium is stale and there is Trilium Next the official successor... More or less... If you choose to try, start with the one that is still in development.

But to be fair, I does not use it as I wanted to. My plan was to use it completly with markdown but I am to dumb or ignorant to do it right. So I simply use the wysiwig style integration to style my texts.

I will watch a video that shows me how to properly use markdown in there.

On the other hand, actually I think about switching to some AsciiDoc Notes/Wiki stuff. Simply because I like the way AsciiDoc works...

And the last to mention: I have no experience with Authelia.

For me it also works .

If they would, no one could ask anything pre purchase.

But I also don't like the forum in there because of the bad atmosphere. Also I don't know whether it is because of a special group or because the general communication style in games is toxic, dumb, aggressive and egoistical as fuck... Like in almost every ingame chat.

Hi,

Since r/NAS is not available and the Hardware@lemmy.ml could not provide that much help I am here again to ask stuff ;D.

My 10years old NAS quited work and I am looking for my opportunities. And since I am tinkering with my raspi and am generally interested in selfhosting stuff like jellyfin, joplin e.g. I decided to take the step to build my own Nas instead of buying another Synology device.

I would like to provide my needs but since I am not sure about it it is only a try... Moreover I cannot say where the journey will take me to^^

What I know:

  • 4 sata slots so I can use my actual drives and have the option to upgrade
  • Transcoding with jellyfin would be nice
  • having my own cloud storage is a long term aim
  • joplin server
  • maybe some terraria dedicated server could be cool also
  • low power usage and low noise are two criteria i would consider important since the energy prices only know one direction where I life
  • x64 architecture to use debian server or TrueNas Scale (I need to dive deeper into TrueNas before deciding)

My former favorite is this fanless board:
MITAC PD11EHI-J6413 MINI-ITX
Con:

  • I realised that the second M.2 slot does not supports M key SSDs but I planned to run the OS on an NVME... and since there is no PCIe the singel M.2 slot with M Key support is the only way to upgrade to 4 sata slots.

My actual favorite (but more expensive) choice seems to be:
MITAC PD10EHI-N6415
Con:

  • price (not so much of problem)

ECC compatibility feels unnecessary.

Is there anything that I have forgotten? Any better choices from european vendors? Ordering from america is not an option because it would take forever to arrive and the process to get it from the zoll is time consuming and would put taxes on top.

Thanks in advance 😊

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right place, but I will give it a try.

My 10years old NAS quited working and I am looking for my opportunities. And since I am tinkering with my raspi and am generally interested in selfhosting stuff like jellyfin, joplin e.g. I decided to take the step to build my own Nas instead of buying another Synology device.

I would like to provide my needs but since I am not sure about it, it serms a bit difficult.

  • low power usage and low noise are two criteria i would consider important since the energy prices only know one direction where I life

At the moment my favorite is this fanless board: https://www.minipc.de/catalog/il/2942

I would upgrade it with a pci card to get more sata slots or with a m.2 card which would do the same thing.

ECC compatibility feels unnecessary.

Is there anything that I forgott? Any better choices from european vendors? Ordering from america is not an option because it would take forever to arrive and the process to get it from the zoll is time consuming and would put taxes on top.

Thanks in advance 😊

Edit: I just realised that M.2 M key SSDs are not supported by the slot... This reduces the options to chose from
