That’s a fair point. From my POV it’s hard to disentangle Field’s inconsistency from Getsy’s. There’s enough blame for both. Watching games it always feels like Getsy moves away from what’s working. I see improvement in pocket presence and anticipation, but I could see people being out on him for that.

Fields is an average QB with the current coaches and roster. I’m not convinced that he couldn’t be a top 10 guy if those improve. Top WRs and LTs also command a high price, but their hit rate in the top picks is much higher than for QBs. If the team actually looks good and Fields is still average, I agree with option 1, but until then I think we can still build.

Fields is pretty much middle of the pack in most statistics. People keep saying he needs to play like an MVP to stay and I’m wondering why that is the bar? If he’s consistently an average QB, I say build the rest of the team and see if you can find good coaches. A first round QB is just as likely to be worse than better.
