If you can get a good glide slope right before touchdown, I feel like a runway is preferred, assuming you had time to fuel dump.

You'll slide easier on a runway. A field could let you sink in far enough to start digging in and ripping things/flipping things.

I say this as someone who took physics in highschool, has a fascination with plane crashes, and dabbles in rc planes. So basically I'm an expert in full size plane crashes. (I have no idea what I'm talking about but it makes sense to me)
