Saving you a click because I didn't spot the title, it's Iyanu season 2.

Tbh if you could make the title less clickbait it'd be nice. Something like "Iyanu, a TV show rivaling Avatar, will get a second season"

Got into Omicron Capricorni B while mining Platinum for the Community Goal in VR and ended up in this very nice eclipse ! Managed to get a high res screenshot (11k*11k )!

If someone wants a new wallpaper I've uploaded it on my OneDrive: https://1drv.ms/i/c/3a85aaaee51fcceb/ETRuhiFfVslBuvJLgm62qsMBkXGNJV_gjHa0TiogDuLx3w?e=2m8g6r

A phone is easier to resell than a dashcam I'd say, so maybe that's better.

Also indeed heat inside the car could be a huge problem depending on where you live and if you have access to a shaded parking.

For a 1st test you could simply record the camera without streaming with the app and see how long that goes.

Wait do you want to have some sort of security camera when not using the car or more something to record when driving?

Do you want to stream the camera with the phone? If so that'll take quite a bit more power than you're expecting.

If you want to record when the car is sitting idle, I wouldn't connect it to the car directly as you'll probably drain the battery (the capacity of those isn't huge and I bet you'd drain it enough in <10h)

If you want the phone to be able to record and stream over 2G / 4G for a full week, I would do the following:

Fully charge the phone, turn off the WiFi, set the app to start the stream, and make it look outside a window. Then check in every hour to see when the battery ran out.

Once you know it take X hours to drain the battery, look up your phone battery capacity (ideally in WH to get an accurate result, but mAh is fine), and then you can do the math:

There's 24*7= 168h in a week You need capacity for 168/X hours (the time it took to drain the battery) Multiply by your capacity C

So in the end you'll need a power bank that has at least 168/X*C Wh.

If you only have the mAh rating it's a bit more math, happy to help with infos if you need it.

An ultra-TL;DR : you don't need the movie title for ChatGPT to steal an IP.

An "easy to implement" note to remove the obvious ship interiors, something like new mechanics with UI or interactions with the BGS.

My first feature would be stolen from Eve Online's Project Discovery it would consist of a new module that acts as a powerful telescope to look at systems in a medium range, 10-30LY.

You wouldn't see planets, but you could do Astrometry (see the wobble of the star as planets orbit around), or Transit detection (see the star light dim as planets go in front).

The data could be taken from real dataset that need human analysis (if there's any left), and players rewarded with both a credit vouchers and a way to look for potential biological signals in surrounding systems.

Another feature that could be easy (but require a lot of balancing or limits) would be to allow players to create Missions.

For example, with colonization, you could give credits to players who participate in transporting resources, you could pay players to bring you engineering resources, you could create escorts missions to protect you from gankers, etc...

What kind of feature would you like to see?

3D printed yes, downloaded them on Printables, lots of skadis compatible paint holders there!

The magic of a clear line of sight and vacuum for a good ~384'300km!

So should we do low power communications by using the moon as reflector dish?

I've moved 3 times in the past 3 years, and only now do I have a dedicated small table for the miniature hobby. I have made more progress painting in 5 days than I did in the past year!

I think the most important part (for me) is to have a setup where I can just have my WIP there, ready to be worked on instantly. The less friction to start painting, the easier I'll start.

The Skadis board is also great for paint and tools, especially if you have a 3D printer. Having every pots visible when I get into my office makes me want to paint!

How soon in your hobby did you get a dedicated setup? For those that don't, how do you manage the setup time?

I was playing today doing some exploration toward Hawking's gap, when I noticed I didn't have to toggle the orbit in a while...

Turns out it was fixed in the Trailblazers update ! They also fixed a couple issues with the powerplay screen.

With luck VR users will get more love in the next few updates?

For mail and cloud services, I also highly recommend Infomaniak !

Basically a replacement for Google Docs (and integrated Web editor that even support draw.io files) , Emails, Teams, and website hosting including.

I don't know where you're from but in my country drinking tonic is kinda popular, the Schweppes brand is seen as the coca cola of tonic (obviously not as a common soda as coke or even Fanta).

TL;DR:

Pilot Project Conclusion: The Swiss Federal Chancellery’s Mastodon instance pilot project, launched in September 2023, has ended as the conditions for continuation were not met.

Low Engagement: The six official accounts on Mastodon had around 3500 followers in total, with low engagement rates compared to other platforms like X and Instagram.

User Decline: The number of active Mastodon users globally is decreasing, contributing to the decision to end the project.

Closure: The social.admin.ch instance will be closed at the end of the month.

Article translated in English :

Confederation closes its Mastodon instance

Bern, 25.09.2024 - Since September 2023, the Federal Chancellery has been operating a Mastodon instance for the federal administration. The pilot project, limited to one year, ends today as the conditions for its continuation have not been met.

As part of their statutory information mandate, the Federal Council and the federal administration have also been communicating on social media for many years and are constantly examining whether platforms not used until now are eligible.

In September 2023, the Conference of Federal Information Services decided to launch a pilot project on the decentralised Mastodon platform. The Federal Chancellery then opened the social.admin.ch instance, on which members of the Federal Council and departments could manage official accounts. The pilot project was limited to one year.

Mastodon has useful features for government communication. Thanks to its decentralised organisation, the platform is not subject to the control of a single company or to any state censorship. Its source code is open, it complies with data protection and is not driven by algorithms.

Too few active users

On the social.admin.ch instance, three departments managed five accounts, and the Federal Chancellery managed one account for the entire Federal Council. The six accounts of the Confederation had around 3,500 subscribers in total.

On platforms such as X or Instagram, the Federal Council and the Federal Administration reach many more subscribers with comparable accounts. In addition, the contributions of the Mastodon accounts of the Federal Council and the Federal Administration have rather low engagement rates (likes, shares, comments). Finally, the number of active users of Mastodon worldwide is once again falling.

The Conference of Information Services of the Confederation therefore considers that the conditions for continuing the pilot project have not been met, and activities on the Mastodon accounts of the Federal Council and the federal administration are suspended as of today. The social.admin.ch instance will be closed at the end of the month.
