Notice the implied and unquestioned assumption that “life goals” means accumulating resources and not building relationships or contributing to society. In fact, it’s expected that personal relationships and societal responsibilities shall be neglected in the quest for resources.

Of course AI isn’t the enemy. The enemy is their corporate ownership.

I was just posting about this in the last day or two, but my ADHD brain also likes to keep music or a conversation going in my head. And I always sought out talk to listen to, like podcasts. But I have found that the right sort of music is a great tool to help occupy the ADHD brain and let my conscious executive functions like, do stuff.

I propose a new law where in order for a speeding ticket to stick, the cop has to document that the violation happened within proximity of another driver. That other driver can be the cop when they are traveling along the roadway, but not when they are hidden and nobody is around.

We would never actually do it, both because it’s still dangerous to speed on your own and because money.

But I figure that there are so many cases of speeding every day that the cops won’t even be aware of 1% of violations. Why not focus on the most dangerous ones?

..where “success” means money and power - the stuff that these high profile scumbags care about, and the stuff that many otherwise decent people are taught should be the priority in their life.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is just lay on the bed in a cool dark room with the fan blowing at me. It’s both for cooling down because I’m heat sensitive (completely separate medical issue) and for the sensory deprivation and recharging.

Sometimes I will still put on something to listen to, even in that case. Usually it isn’t typical music though. It will typically be a long form video of a video game speed run or some kind of asmr video with people talking in japanese.

And at work, on days I’ve stayed late for whatever reason, it gets very peaceful and productive for sure.

Being absorbed in my music while working brings that kind of peaceful productive feeling with it, actually. By occupying a certain part of my brain, it must prevent certain anxieties and distractions from getting that attention.

I had to remind myself exactly what the point of cross multiplying is.

…it’s essentially just a label given to a specific set of algebraic operations. That it even has a name seems stupid to me. We shouldn’t focus on memorizing specific cases like this when understanding why it works will get you there just as quickly. Heck in the case of cross multiplying, I think it works against the interests of the students’ learning. It’s a shortcut that hides the fact that you’re multiplying both sides by both denominators, when “do the same thing on both sides of the equals sign” is algebra 101.

Hell yeah, some electronic & industrial sounds are always welcome. I do have chiptunes represented on my playlist too. There’s at least Strike The Earth from Shovel Knight.

Fortunately mr job is pretty good about leaving me alone to work on things. (or not, as is often the case)
