I get everything from neostore, where you can install custom repositories and I get all my f-droid apps in there so I don't have to have 6174728 appstores.

hold up... I thought proton for good left the fediverse, starting with mastadon for the centralized socials?

I don't know, why?

Especially in Ghost Recon Wildlands or on the Colorado map of Hitman. If you know you know.

I've learnt this the hard way, but ALWAYS (LITERALLY FUCKING ALWAYS) assume you're the smartest in the room. People are dumb as fuck on average.

I wouldn’t say the UK was the second most influential—realistically, that spot goes to the US. And I’m not even a big fan of the US right now, but their industrial power, global logistics, and role in both Europe and the Pacific made a massive difference. Without their support, especially through Lend-Lease and D-Day, things could’ve turned out very differently.

Heard this too, our guide on safari in Etosha National Park (Namibia) said Hyenas have the strongest biting power - comparative to their overall sizes - in the world.

EDIT: okay, just fact checked myself - that's not entirely true. when measuring BFQ (comparative to size) the order goes:

  1. Tasmanian devil
  2. Jaguar
  3. Wolverine
  4. Spotted Hyena

Question: how is Ukraine financing itself these days?

even if you disable the feature, I have zero to no trust I'm OpenAI to respect that decision after having a history of using copyrighted content to enhance their LLMs

TL/DR: title 🥰

Nothing special, just wanted to make a post because I'm extremely proud of myself today. Reddit was the only thing holding me back, and I'm happy to say that I've just deleted my 8 year old account. I'm now only using open source apps for my android and desktop OS and it feels amazing!

I was on another thread and got deep into learning about the history of certain words and thought I'd post here. What word history origins / facts do you know?

I'll start with two that I recently came across:

  • "‘Wer’ (meaning ‘man’) came from Old High German with the Anglo Saxons 1,500 years ago, and was part of Old English. It then became ‘were’ in Middle English and remains as part of werewolf (‘man wolf’) in modern English." (Source: BillTongg@lemmy.world)

  • "Sculptors in antique Rome could fix mistakes they made by mixing marble dust with wax. If a sculptor was especially gifted and made no mistakes that needed fixing, they would market their art as “sin cera”, which means “without wax”, which is where the word “sincere” comes from."
