He leaves out that the "box of scraps" was essentially a complete selection of all the parts used by his company to make their weapons. He was basically given a couple each of every Lego set ever (already assembled !) and then tore them apart to make one big thing. It's impressive, but it's not like he reinvented modern technology from scratch. I'd call that "vibe engineering" at worst.
They hate to hear it.
I call everything a script. Makes the Java devs real mad. Makes the PM's super confused.
The Republican way of course!
Stupidly
With unimaginable levels of unfounded confidence
Behind closed doors with many bulging manila envelopes and vague threats.
The hinge point in behind the olive stack. You can see that there's a bundle of sticks tied to the support there holding the log in place. The other end with the rock and pulley had a guy twisting a log in order to wind and shorten the rope attached the the rock. This causes the rock to pull down on that end, creating pressure on the olive stack as the other end of the log is anchored.
I'm guessing the tree is mostly a guide but the Y of the tree also provides a stop.
This guy definitely took the small arms and gunsmith perks.
Less anal, more logos next time.

Me: Fuck, I'm at three dogs and eyeing another two, I'm gonna need a bigger barrel.
It's easier on the writers when they take away all the easy. There's an episode of DS9 where the Defiant's computer is broken and they have to do everything manually. The scene of them undocking and leaving ds9 was pretty dramatic. It let them show off the crew's hyper competency without the use of the future tech.
I really hated when Discovery jumped to a post apocalypse future, but those ended up being the best seasons of the show.
Even better: Make the alternate timeline a utopia with doc Brown saying he hasn't had time to analyze the differences and leave it at that. Throughout the movie have framed portraits of Bernie Sanders ifrom 1995 n the background of any scene indoors.
