This is the first I'm hearing about this but I'm kind of into it.

As a Canadian fan it's always seemed a little odd that the only times I get to see my favourite teams throughout the year are during the Slams and then at the end of the season with the Scotties/Brier, while other sports get to watch their teams play multiple times a week all season long.

I'm curious how this will pan out and what the community's thoughts are.

I'm experiencing post-coffee gut contraction as we speak!

Journiv has got me to try journaling seriously for the first time. I'm a bit envious of those able to do so naturally, I've been forgetting to make daily entries more often than not

One of our recent council meetings had a developer wanting to rezone a lot to medium density but needed a variance to allow for less parking given the size of the parcel.

Council unanimously approved the rezoning citing the need for more medium density projects, but were completely divided on the vote for the parking variance. They could not fathom that a developer would know best how many parking spaces would be needed to still be functional and profitable. All they wanted was to reduce the requirement from 1.5 spaces per unit down to 1.25 spaces per unit. A decrease of like 9 spaces total.

Luckily the variance was eventually approved but not before a lot of debate and grandstanding about what people are supposed to do with their cars.

I found it quite the opposite of annoying. This episode had some beautiful cinematography showing the south america trek to the point I was questioning if this entire thing was funded by tourism boards. Maybe not the most exciting to watch but I've mostly come to expect as much.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

CMHC already has programs available to fully fund non-market housing initiatives as long as you can meet certain requirements. One of the biggest issues is that nearly everybody sees housing as an investment and not simply a shelter so if there's no money in it then they aren't interested.

Given that they freed all the zoo animals, I think it's safe to assume that all farm animals have also been released. They would need to randomly come across a chicken's nest first which I don't think is sustainable.

Biking through unplowed snow sucks, but it's hardly impossible. The worst part about it is having to deal with traffic at the same time

You've received a tonne of responses and I'm not even sure if this has been posted by someone else already, but there's a YouTube video called "How to Radicalize a Normie" which goes over at length exactly how the alt right gets its hooks into young people and why it's so hard for them to break out.

My workplace has moved offices which has changed my commute from a 10 minute bike ride to a 15 minute drive. My daily routine is in absolute shambles.

Funny enough, Magic has a keyword for exactly this called Wordy.

What's your process for running the unpacker executable? Maybe it depends on the game, but I set up a wineprefix through Lutris and always seem to run into issues getting it to complete properly without any unpacking errors.

Sensitivity to light is an ADHD symptom?

I took 30mg of Vyvanse about 4 hours ago for the first time. I am undiagnosed and this medication was not prescribed to me, but I hope it's ok to post here.

I'm curious what the effects are supposed to feel like for ADHD symptoms? Right now I mostly just feel kinda zen, and I'm honestly a little underwhelmed at my ability to focus on tasks; it seems nearly completely the same as any other day, but I'm more relaxed and maybe zoning out a bit more than usual.

I really was hoping to be able to sit down at my desk this morning and start hammering away at my work more effectively. That has not been the case so far.

I may have been a bit bold trying to jump straight in to nighttime photography on my very first roll of film but I think I was able to get away with it. This was shot at EV+1 which I think held the shutter open longer than I expected, causing some shake.

Even though Kerri Einarson's rink had a tough week, they were able to make it through to the finals. Homan, however, showed us that she is an unstoppable machine and absolutely deserves to wear the maple leaf for another year.

Tire bead (infosec.pub)
submitted 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) by apprehensively_human@lemmy.ca to c/bikewrench@lemmy.world

This is a Schwalbe studded winter tire I bought a few months ago, and I'm not sure what exactly I did to get it like this but for some reason the bead seems to be warped or stretched. It doesn't want to fit my rims. There's a small section of the tire that's popped out of the rim, and when I try to lever it back into place the bead pulls out further down.

I've tried this tire on two different rims with the same results, and to make doubly sure it isn't the rims I put on one of my old Schwalbe Marathon tires which fit perfectly. Both tires are 40-635 700b.

Is this repairable? I don't have much experience dealing with tires but I find it unusual that this tire seemed to be fine until now when I changed out the wheel.

iam8bit is coming out with a new Collector's Edition as well as the Echoes of the Eye soundtrack on vinyl. Pre-orders start on February 29th.

I counted conservatively just shy of 50 of these little guys on an hour long walk.

When my stubble grows in, I just have to play with it. When I shave it off, I just have to feel how smooth it is.

It's maddening and I recognize that people must think I look ridiculous with my hand always stroking my chin.

Not sure if this is intended behaviour but seems like a bug.

Thanks for the hard work!
