Tbh, I don't think they intend to follow through with promises of a social media platform, jobs platform, OS, web browser, or hardware development in a meaningful timeframe. It's all a façade.

Considering how necessary it is to exist and thrive in the developed world, I'd say yes. Good luck getting by without email or accessing online services without reliable internet access.
