I agree and that rise saddens me, but in Europe, I still generally have confidence that the majority of countries' populations respect general decency, human rights and lack of corruption enough to keep the hate and greed mostly at bay. In the US, it's now long past hope - the corruption runs so deep, so broadly that it's taken over, and that means the country is doomed to be somewhere I never wanna live.

There isn't even "justice" for cis white men though - justice in the USA barely even exists any more. The greed and corruption runs so deep that the supreme court are all bribed or heavily biased, so I have no confidence whatsoever in the judicial system.
I'm a cis white man, and I'm working to get myself the hell out of this utterly fucked country as soon as I can because everybody in power is blatantly corrupt and there are no functional checks and balances any more.
It takes years even if you're legal. If you've committed any kind of crime, including working or being here illegally without a visa, you'll get denied
When I see a cheeto on the floor, there is always a demon voice in my head telling me to stomp it with my foot
Who the fuck is Julie?? I'm so confused
Do you like fishsticks?
Same, my favourite thing recently is when the caller is an AI, I just get a voicemail of the darker AI taking to my pixel's on device AI for 30 seconds
Fair, I regret my comment - was a dumb joke in response to the last line of this wall of text (which I'm guessing was a joke)
Good to know, everywhere should do it!
I'm guessing even in California you have to pay for it though?
In Scotland, doctors offices and hospitals don't even have cash registers cos money is not something the citizens ever have to think about when it comes to healthcare, I feel sorry for anyone who has to exist in the US where money and healthcare are tied together
I'm from Scotland and here, every time a pregnant person is registered with the NHS (we have universal free healthcare, which is normal in Europe, so this is pretty much every pregnant person), they're automatically enrolled for a baby box to be mailed to their home a couple of weeks before the baby's due date.
The baby box includes a ton of stuff designed to help parents take care of a baby in their first few years, including the box itself doubling as a cot. Loads more details here, it's been super well received since they introduced it 10 years ago ish: https://www.scotland.org/live-in-scotland/progressive-scotland/baby-box
