The increased mass increases the force of gravity on the outer particles which ends up reducing the radius more than the increase due to the layer of new hydrogen, IIRC.

My argument is that self-defense is more narrow than your definition. At the point in the conversation when we were exchanging definitions of that term, no specific acts had been mentioned in the thread/post.

The threat of that particular CEO has now been neutralized. It was arguably legitimate at the time he was shot, tho.

I certainly think it is possible to argue neither of those threats were/are neutralized. But that may say more about me than I really want to impose on anyone else.

"No War But Class War" ?

It's only self-defense if the threat is legitimate and not already neutralized. Even if a murderer has expressed their intent to escape and kill again, if they are already captured and constrained executing them is wrong.

Some deaths in the process of neutralizing threats may be unavoidable and just. That could include resistance or revolution. But, no, you don't get to justly kill anyone based on their mere willingness to kill you.

Dehumanization is denying someone human rights.

Fascists can and should be denied political power, not human rights.

You and I might disagree about the specifics of human rights, but I doubt we disagree that they exist.

I haven't ever had a date that was followed by a period and a decimal digit that wasn't a timestamp, but if you do encounter (or can reasonably predict) that ambiguity, I defer to a standard format.

I find the . significantly easier that T to deal with when I'm looking across timestamped backups of config files or whatever. The T really throws me off as a "separator" character, it makes both the day and hour harder for me to read.

I know it violates all standards, but what works for me is 2025-09-02.13:32:56.25. I.e. using . between date and time AND as fractional seconds.

It's pretty close to standard, doesn't contain whitespace, and looks much nicer to me than having a T in the middle.

Wow! Between BG3, CO:E33, and Sliksong, all the AAA lies are falling away. They don't have to cost the user an arm and a leg, they can be beautiful works of art and love from small(ish) teams, and they can be an experience that is so rich in player choice it's practically unique and highly replayable.

~40M copies, ~8B ppl, so ownership rates are about 0.5%.

You might meet one of the lucky 10k that learn about Stardew Valley today, and you can enable them with a gift purchase.

My solution for this feeling is to gift copies to others. I figure that worst case I support ConcernedApe and best case I help spark more Stardew joy.

(Right now, I'm between jobs, so I can't buy for you, other readers.)

Yeah, my imagination area does not overlap with my visual field. My imagination area is fully-featured, but not normally interestingly-populated until I decide to (day)dream or will myself to do visualization exercises.

IIRC, death by suicide (firearm) was something like 10k / yr. So, I think it probably still outpaces death by GSW (spree shooting), tho I hear the later is increasing more than TV news can/will/is covering.

EDIT: In 2023, "gun suicides reached a new high: 27,300" -- https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2025/new-report-highlights-us-2023-gun-deaths-suicide-by-firearm-at-record-levels-for-third-straight-year

If a death is by suicide, it is likely (>50%) by firearm. If a death is by firearm, it is likely (>58%) by suicide.
