Makes me wish they further prioritize the ability to move accounts from instance to instance. Things need to be thought of as best effort and not exactly a sure thing.

I have mostly random videos with things I've been interested in over the years. I've been doing a short a day for over a year now. The shorts are pretty random but surround things that happen on my life.

I love video and live production. I haven't been able to really do it since college and don't have time (or equipment) to do consistent long form content; but shorts are easy and fun enough to come up with.

Also a bunch of the shorts involve my cat.

I guess if it was a daily unlimited good pizza party instead of a small raise given as long as I had the job; then maybe it would be a better deal.

If I'm either getting an extra $100 a month or $20 of pizza every day.. I think pizza wins.

I actually like the ability for a local AI to help with this in theory. I don't think it's an excuse for unintuitive UIs though.

Phones are handheld computers now. Why aren't laptops phones? I know you can use VoIP or tether to a phone, but why don't laptops have LTE or 5G modules and SIM card slots as a standard? in c/asklemmy@lemmy.world

At first I thought it was a federation issue of some sort but then realized voyager was working fine.

Sync is my favorite Lemmy app, but come on can we at least get some bug fixes once in a while?

Is there a way to have a less depressing Lemmy experience? (sh.itjust.works)
 

It seems like no matter how I scroll I find bad news. I know lots of things are happening but I just want funny memes and interesting stories.

I used to be able to get this back in the day on the Reddit app feed, but here the all page is always just depressing stuff. Back then, there was news and stuff but like it felt more balanced in the all feed. I could get bad stuff but lots of interesting stuff too .

I find myself engaging less and less and just avoiding Lemmy more and more since I know the moment I open it I'll get whacked with more depressing stuffs.

I don't want politics or world news or really even memes about that stuff anymore. Heck even tech news is depressing. I just want simple scrolling of fun content. Idk it's just hard to describe.

Does anyone else feel this way about their Lemmy experience?

I remember an old post about someone getting AM radio from their sink (probably from Reddit back in the day). That type of stuff is so much cooler than my feed.

To that end: any recommended active communities on Lemmy with that type of stuff?

Hey folks,

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm printing PETG (https://kingroon.com/collections/petg-filament?) on my Neptune 3 Plus. It's sort of like it starts (almost) ok, sticks to the plate just fine, then a few layers up it seems to almost have inconsistent extrusion (or maybe even trouble pulling the filament?) leading to holes, etc. till the model just falls apart. See linked photos for about where I give up each time.

I'm printing with Cura and 240C printing, 90C on the build plate. 45mm/s (I've gone down from 60mm/s). Retraction on, no z-hop. 60% fan, though I've tried it with 20% and 100% fan as well.

The filament is in a dryer at 55C. Funny enough I printed basically perfectly (without drying, straight out of the bag) with default settings the first time I printed. The second time and on, have had this problem... and have had it in the dryer.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is it wrong to report email as spam when you previously opted out and they either add a new subscription/newsletter, etc.? (sh.itjust.works)
 

For example, I opt out of all emails from a website. A year later they make a new newsletter and auto subscribe all to it.

I login, hit unsubscribe, then report as spam in my email client.

I figure auto adding me is more/less spamming me. Do y'all agree?

At one point I thought that if the Government was giving money for EV chargers, they would be either at-cost or free to use.

One of the first built was at a Flying J truck stop in Ohio.

I looked on plug share and found one in Hubbard, OH and it's 67c per kwh (https://www.plugshare.com/location/582660). The average cost of electricity in that area is less than 15c per kwh. At that kind of price, gas could be a cheaper option.

Why does the government subsidize in a way where already wealthy companies get public money to build chargers, and make a ton more money off the rest of us?

(This is not a political statement at all. I just don't understand why public money goes to make certain private folks more wealthy. I figure I must be missing something).

How to get wood sealant off of a window (sh.itjust.works)

So I was using a wood sealer (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AQTX3XU) on my newly built catio. Unfortunately I didn't notice how much I had sprayed on the adjacent window.

Now I have cloudy/foggy windows (https://imgur.com/a/TKD9wim). I've tried cleaning them with:- - - -

  • water via the hose directly on the window.. very little progress
  • windex.. very little progress
  • dish soap followed by host.. very little progress
  • vinegar.. very little progress

Any ideas for what might get this stuff off easily?---

I'd consider buying a Fisker car if the software/firmware was open source (sh.itjust.works)
 

I wouldn't be as worried about them going out of business and me being stuck with half broken car software.
