Dem establishment is so afraid and out of touch they think this will move the needle, maybe it will maybe it won’t, for better or for worse, all I know if further alienates me and probably other newyawkers that want to vote dem but absolutely hate every candidate that is propped up by money.

Either Iran negotiates some more, digs into nuclear weapon development, has regime change, or things go to shit more broadly. Same 4 options that were available before and these strikes do nothing but make things worse for every party involved. Just more Trump machismo, best I can hope is that it’s 3 strikes and we are out… but I really doubt it.

I went to a FIFA club World Cup match at MetLife Stadium in NJ this week and saw our brave gestapo at work patrolling the stadium. My immigrant friend brought all his papers and was worried to even change seats in an empty stadium for fear that was enough to deport him.

Short of straight-out illegal actions there is a lot of civic disobedience that organized groups of people could do. In this day and age maybe it will be construed as illegal, but goes beyond the conventional notion of protest.

I bet the administration will label it far left terrorism and will use it to stamp out opposition. The shooter’s loose connection to Democratic Socialist party will be a propaganda piece to label all democrats terrorists.

I know what you mean yet I do enjoy the design of this poster, it is like something I would see in a Wild West Gazette. But in this day and age I agree this poster is not effective in conveying the political message. Maybe reduce word count, I think text size and sideways words are okay when used modestly.

It’s a ship of Theseus situation. Apparently it’s the “same” house he bought in 1953… at this point though it’s just the same property.

The massive cock slobbering that Warren Buffet got at his Woodstock of Capitalism last week was nauseating. All the media were fawning over how he’s still a small-town Nebraska bumpkin. I have to hand it to him he crafted his image perfectly as a “good billionaire” too.

Is this finally the first head to roll in this administration? It’s a shame this guy won’t see any real accountability.

I don’t see it as him being a hero, but this is arguably the first obstructionist act that any democratic senator has done this Congress. Cory Booker took and held the floor for no reason other than to stop all senate business for 25 hours, that’s not nothing.

Acts of resistance start small and by physically exhausting himself as far as he could take it, I think for some people it will be inspiring.

It’s difficult notion to wrestle with… I never like showing my patriotism and I always read American history very critically (thanks Howard Zinn!) but it’s also the only country I’ve lived in and will probably stay in for the rest of my life. I’m inspired that change can happen (even if it’s bad) in this country and even if is a long and hard path, I guess I can’t say I’ve given up yet. I also have two kids so I gotta try to give them something better.

When I protested a couple weeks ago a few people yelled at me at that I didn’t love America… the irony would be hilarious if it wasn’t reflecting a sad reality.

Truth is, Trumpists absolutely do not like free speech.

A fascinating read of an article. How long are you willing to suffer before eating human flesh? How far till you eat your own parents? This episode of westward expansion is an example of natural selection and human group psychology. Hope you enjoy it!

I’m making plans to protest daily outside my representative’s local office. Rather than appear like a crazy person, which is often the case in NYC, I want to start some political awakening in my neighborhood. I live in a Republican district of the city and my neighborhood is ripe to learn how the GOP is raping this country, removing benefits that many low income people rely on, increasing our taxes, and becoming a Fascist state.

So, does the Lemmy community have any advice? What material should I distribute? Should I read the Constitution ad nauseam?

To the Americans here, I love each and everyone of you and we all deserve a safe and prosperous nation.

To my brothers and sisters worldwide, thank you for reading and for your solidarity.
