The trees the New York Times is printed on wishes they were toilet paper instead.

There are still hotels with 'smoking' rooms in I think South Carolina and Kentucky at least, you definitely want to make sure you have a non-smoking room or you'll be inhaling musty old tobacco smells the entire night, something I had made the mistake of once.

All real nonstick cookware is Teflon or chemically related to it. I almost always use cast iron or carbon steel but they are not nonstick, you have to control heat and acidity for them to release well. You can even see in nonstick pans that liquids will tend to bead up and not spread out because of the surface, versus in any other pan you'll only see water bead up when you hit certain temps. I can only achieve something like a French omelette in a nonstick pan, carbon steel has always been a disaster, because of that me and a lot of other people keep a nonstick around just for certain egg and crepe recipes.

I am a 'big' man and I would say that where things peaked in American culture as far as ridiculous sizes go was when a Starbucks-like chain operating in Florida was offering a 42-ounce version of a frappucino-type drink that Starbucks only provided a 24-ounce version of, this was shortly before Super Size Me came out which started to change the culture on those things.

It is not only that she ran to the right but she did so with Liz Cheney who represents the old guard that is no longer trusted by them. She is nothing but a liability and is moreso indicative of the rot in the establishment which seems to identify more with Republican-lite than anything the rank and file of the party wants. That same establishment is trying to decide which minority to throw under the bus now rather than own up to their failures.

I'm sure any rural broadband initiatives are going to be scrapped, all the more better for business for Starlink.

This post is misleading. This scenario will only happen after all the ice is melted in Antarctica causing a >200ft sea level rise, which would take at least a couple millenia of extreme global warming to happen. There will be beachfront property slipping into the sea by 2075 with a lot of ecological and economic consequences involved, the NOAA has given us a neat little tool for visualizing what's to come. https://coast.noaa.gov/slr/#/layer/slr

This was already common practice to promote other shows during broadcasts way back when I last watched broadcast TV over a decade and a half ago.

I just flipped through the introduction of a GIMP book that the authors hoped 3.0 would be out so they could cover it but ultimately based the book on 2.6 due to delays. It's copyright 2012, apparently something (didn't) happen.

Newsweek believes that everything is going swimmingly well for Biden without fail. Don't rely on others to keep Trump out of office for you, everything is not OK.

Come join me for Equinox (North Carolina, USA) and Sacred Earth (Missouri, USA) in September where I'll be bringing a selection of darkpsy, twilight and forest sounds. I mainly play at small, intimate events throughout Florida at warehouses and beaches. If you want to know what's going on psy-related in Florida feel free to reach out.

What is everyone's preferred cookware around here? I have usually preferred cast iron cookware for most things that don't involve acids but have recently started using carbon steel and prefer it for the lighter weight, longer handles and similar cooking properties. Enameled dutch oven for braising of course. I tried to stop using non-stick pans (Teflon and the like) but for certain egg and crepe recipes it just seems absolutely necessary. I would like to get a nice collection of multi-ply stainless steel / aluminum pans when I get the budget for it.
